Look over List of Inheritance Cycle characters

edit

Hey there, Artix Kreiger. I noticed that you weighed in on the deletion discussion for List of Inheritance Cycle characters a while back. I've still got some work to do on it, but I was wondering if you could swing by the article and check whether the two article issue tags at the top still apply. If they don't, could you please remove them? I'd do it myself, but I want this page to remain as in-objectionable as possible. If you're too busy, no big deal, I can put it up for a WP:GOCE review. Thanks for reading, and happy editing! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 21:52, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

2ReinreB2, it looks like another editor removed it. I had looked over it and I think it is good with the recent improvements. The article looks good now. Cheers. Artix Kreiger (talk) 23:58, 10 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Categories for Bamboo articles in your userpages.

edit

I'm currently working on the pages in Wikipedia:Database reports/Polluted categories which are categories (mostly for mainspace articles) which have both mainspace articles and userspace articles. Per WP:USERNOCAT, articles in userspace shouldn't be in categories that are designed for Mainspace. Most of these Polluted categories have 1 or 2 articles from userspace, but there appear to be 114 articles in your userspace area that have the Category:Bamboo species. User:Artix Kreiger/Bambusa angustissima looks fairly typical. Unlike most cases where the user has copied something and let it rot or have created a scrap, OTOH, yours appear to be ready for mainspace. Could you please take care of these when you can, either by moving them to mainspace (probably best) or changing the [[Category:Bamboo Species]] to [[:Category:Bamboo Species]]. Thank You.Naraht (talk) 21:17, 9 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Naraht, hi, Thanks for reminding me. I will get to a bunch of these this weekend over the course of next week, starting with the one you mentioned. Thanks. Cheers. Artix Kreiger (talk) 21:19, 9 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Cool. I just picked that one since it was near the start of the list and User:Artix_Kreiger/Bambusa_basihirsuta had an issue in that one of the categories is mistyped start with a square bracket and a squiggly bracket. Now if I could just figure out which one the Bamboo near my house is (Washington, DC area) :)Naraht (talk) 21:27, 9 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion

edit

I suggest that you start moving the drafts into article space yourself. You know what you are doing, and every species is notable if it is documented. (However, there might be a reviewer who doesn't agree with you and me that every species is notable.) Anyway, thank you. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:29, 12 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm always aware that some of the pages in the bot jobs appear on my watchlist, so there's always the chance that the bot scans through it and appears on the recent changes page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited How Do You Live? Close of Physical exercise move discussion

edit

At Talk:Physical exercise#Requested move 20 March 2018. you closed this discussion as WP:SNOW after only 4 comments and after only a little over 3 hours had elapsed. Also, the opener of the RM failed to also request a ExerciseExercise (disambiguation) move (if that was their intent), which might have been the reason some people opposed, thinking we would lose the disambig page, and also limited the number of people who saw the RM because the editors of the disambig page would not have gotten watchlist notification. Do you stand by that close? -- Netoholic @ 10:33, 24 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Netoholic, just for that page, yes. It was closed because it was incomplete. The person is welcome to open a complete one next time. Also, physical exercise is not necessarily the dominant topic that the other uses of excessive can be "ignored". This, for those reasons, yes. Please note it was more of a procedural note and less of a snow close. Feel free to open one with noth requested moves. Artix Kreiger (talk) 13:10, 24 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Archiving references

edit

Hello, Artix Krieger. I see that under your Artix Krieger 2 account you have been doing a lot of rescuing/archiving sources, using IABot. You have been archiving every reference, even those that aren’t dead. In fact if you look at your own contributions,[1] in many or most cases there were NO dead links, or only one - so that the edit added many thousands of bytes to the article without actually rescuing anything.

I know you are doing this in good faith and an attempt to improve the encyclopedia. Thank you for that. But the practice of archiving every reference is controversial and there has been a lot of discussion about it, because of the huge volume of bytes it adds to the article. It can increase the size of the article by up to 25% - for example 18% at San Diego, an article I watch. There has been debate but there has not been a consensus at these discussions either for or against the practice. But many users oppose it and some even revert the edit. Would you consider from now on using the IABot to archive only the dead links instead of everything? Archiving only the dead links actually is the default setting of that bot; you have to click a box to archive everything. Please understand, nothing forbids you from archiving everything, and some people do think it improves the article. But some do not. Give it some thought. --MelanieN (talk) 18:41, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

MelanieN, thank you for letting me know. I will take some time to think it out. Artix Kreiger (talk) 19:13, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, and thanks for reverting at San Diego. There actually was one dead link there, if you want to go ahead and "rescue" that one! --MelanieN (talk) 19:22, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
MelanieN, well I "rescued" 1 link. sadly, the other was not archived. Artix Kreiger (talk) 19:29, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
OK, well, it's helpful to have it tagged. I can probably do something about that. Thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 19:34, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Would you stop doing this please? You just archived more than 100 links on Milton, Ontario and none of the ones I checked were dead. Meters (talk) 02:13, 28 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Guadua sarcocarpa

edit

Someone else asked me the same thing, so here's what I said to him.

Thanks for your note. The problem is that the editor in question has had a years-long history of disrupting a wide range of things; see the ban discussion for some of the issues. Since this was an obvious case of socking via IP, and since most of his edits are problematic, I had no hesitation in reverting them, but since some were helpful, you should have no hesitation in reverting me (even use rollback, if you feel like it) when you find that I reverted a good edit. Nyttend (talk) 22:37, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Nyttend, I understand since I was not too sure if my restoration was some sort of Proxying. Thanks. Artix Kreiger (talk) 22:43, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
It's not one bit of a problem. Maybe the rules say it is (I don't remember), but if so, the rules are preventing you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, so ignore them. And if the rules don't say it is, you're fine that way too :-) Nyttend (talk) 22:45, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Bot cite rescues on Timeline of 1960s Conterculture

edit

Hello, and thank you for your current work on the counterculture timeline page. I do have some concerns, however, as many of the links you have replaced were recently tested and were definitely not dead. I have no clue as to the protocols used for your work, but I am concerned.

For example, this link was not dead, and did not need to be retrieved from archive: https://www.villagevoice.com/2010/03/24/hippies-free-store-not-so-popular-with-thugs/

Any thoughts? Thanks! Learner001 (talk) 12:11, 1 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
