Where do I submit letter from lawyer of Trust that grants copyright authority to publish photos & works by the artist (now deceased) that I am writing his biography for addition to Wikipedia?ArtResearcher1955 (talk) 09:50, 5 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi ArtResearcher1955, I am assuming this would granted only for Wikipedia's use (i.e. non-free), rather than public domain. For non-free use you can find the "plain and simple" guide here and more detailed information here. Instructions on how to use the File Upload Wizard are here. If you have questions or need help, you can reach out to the Teahouse. S0091 (talk) 14:52, 5 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Walter S. Feldman

edit

Wikipedia is not for merely telling about someone. A Wikipedia article should summarize only what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a subject, showing how (in this case) it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person. This source would be useful [1], if you could find two more then summarise what they say, it would make an acceptable article. Sorry but it is public information, not copyrighted. But do what you want.— Preceding unsigned comment added by ArtResearcher1955 (talkcontribs)
Hello. The text you pasted into the article was an exact match for this site. As you can see on that site, the © copyright symbol appears at the bottom of the page. Even if it was not marked as copyright material, you would need some proof that that particular text was freely licensed. The basics of copyright mean you generally cannot copy someone else's writing without permission; that principle applies here. Thanks. --- Possibly 18:46, 21 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Please do not paste that material again, we have no confirmation that it belongs to you. If you continue to add copyurighted material to Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. You also need to disclose as a WP:PAID editor. --- Possibly 19:08, 21 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello ArtResearcher1955. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:ArtResearcher1955. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=ArtResearcher1955|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --- Possibly 19:14, 21 July 2021 (UTC) Sir, I am a retired physician. I own with my wife an art gallery. She is a art historian & runs the gallery, but on occasion I research artists biographical info out of interest. I do it for fun. I do not get paid. The gallery do not have any works by this artist for sale so I believe no conflict of interest. But when I was researching Gardiner I came across the poultry amount of info on Wikipedia. So I thought you want info. But I see now it is a mistake to waste my time. I will no longer post any info & you can delete my account. Thank you.Reply
