Thanks for uploading Image:Jaime ray newman.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Hyrax

Arikk, I think that your hyrax article is great. You suggest that they are called dassies or rock rabbits in South Africa (if I read the sentence correctly). I have never heard them described as rock rabbits here. --Adam Brink (talk) 05:39, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

I have heard of the term dassies, but not rock rabbits. Never having been in SA I couldn't say which terms are widespread are widespread and which aren't. I didn't actually write that part of the article, but did I try to keep in as much of the original contributions as possible, unless it was clearly inaccurate. So if you think rock rabbits is not a commonly used term, feel free to take it out, or put in a citation needed. Arikk (talk) 06:45, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

suggestions

Here are some suggestions for rock hyrax I started typing at WP:MAMMAL, but shifted here. They're just my thoughts, don't make anything of them:

• I would remove the "other" section. The paper cited on hyrax's evolutionary position is by no means the only paper or the authority on the matter, and this stuff belongs at hyrax.
• What were the old photos at the page? If one was a good shot of a colony I'd keep it for sure. Such shots are what I expect to see, as well as details, when I look at hyrax articles.
• Can you redo the cits, using citation templates and giving access dates? This is very useful, and is necessary to get it up to good article status. This is a big bother to do (I've done it at around twenty longer pages that I contributed little else to), but it's really worth it.

Bad example, I found it's just a silly synonym for dispute or fight. Another suggestion: a fairly extensive section on taxonomy and subspecies. Very complex business in hyraxen, needs explanation. innotata (Talk | Contribs) 16:41, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Excuse me, but the source which you added as reference to prove that she's jewish, is not legit. I checked it, and there's only one small block on the right which says about her finishing some Boston school. Also, who you will be to her? The reference showed that she attended a Jewish day school. I believe that's sufficient, for a non-controversial claim. A rabbinical certificate is not required. Arikk (talk) 15:49, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Hyrax

Hi. I see you removed my changes. You say the hyrax does not chew its cud but you show no proof. You simply believe someone else's claims to the contrary. You are believing a lie. People have studied the Hyrax and observed it chewing its cud. It chews its cud for only about 30 minutes and usually in the night when you would be sleeping. Here is one citation: http://users.adam.com.au/bstett/BHyrax18May1991.htm which itself also cites others sources.

And for yet another source, we have a book called Leviticus. It's sad that you do not count the words of your creator to be a legitimate source. Even if you refuse to admit that your creator designed the hyrax to chew its cud, Leviticus 11:5 is still another written source. You must agree that someone wrote Leviticus and they said the hyrax chews its cud. So there are multiple citations for you.

The hyrax does chew its cud. Stop spreading misinformation. You cannot prove you are correct. If you wanted to try, you could get a hyrax and record video of it 24 hours a day, especially at night, and verify for yourself that it chews its cud. If you are unwilling to do this experiment, then please do not revert my changes back to your belief system. The hyrax chews its cud. This is the truth. Please see my comments on Talk:Hyrax#Rumination. I do not dispute your claim that the hyrax chews cud - although the actual purpose of that behaviour is not clear. I myself uploaded the video of the hyrax "chewing the cud" so that people can see the behaviour that we're talking about. But whether an animal is a ruminant or not is an anatomical distinction, and has nothing to do with its chewing behaviour, or with the description in the Bible. In the original Leviticus, the wording is "מעלה גרה" which literally means bringing up food that has been swallowed, and there is no mention of the structure of the digestive tract.
