Second ever Wiki Angel Award

The Wiki Angel Award
Ariel, I know you haven't edited in awhile, but I think of you often and I hope you are doing well. You have always been a true Wiki Angel and we all miss you. PumpkinSky talk 18:35, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Reviewer

Per your note on my talkpage, I've given you the "reviewer" right, which was implemented, then withdrawn, then reinstated over the past couple of years. It allows a gentler moderation for moderate-traffic articles that need to have some oversight for BLP reasons, genre trolling, etc. Reviewers can accept or reject changes and are themselves auto-reviewed. It was being kicked around when you started your break, to be mainly applied to BLPs.

Feel free to ask me questions as they occur to you. Real life has suddenly gotten busy this week for me, so I may not be around a lot, but I'm sure your talkpage stalkers or mine can help. Acroterion (talk) 11:46, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Oy... Thank you dearly! But what is BLP? I'm not sure what the new "rights" do, and wouldn't want to edit something without understanding them first. Like how I review all the preferences, options, etc., before ever using a new computer program, so I know what it does and can't do. I think the majority of people who used to watch my talk page have given up, and if I remember right, the amount of edits coming in, good or bad, makes a comment on someone's page scroll right off in just a few minutes, or faster.
I remember vaguely the conversation about having someone review changes to the FAs and GAs, but it seemed that it flew in the face of defiance if implemented, it would no longer be a fully 'free' editable online encyclopia. I imagine it is just for Good Articles and above? I mean, who would want to review all the thousands of "picachoo" (or however it is spelled) articles? Who even reads them?? But what's BLP? And thank you very much, Acro! ArielGold 22:34, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
BLP = Biography of a Living Person. Nothing to do with GAs and FAs, just a way to keep libel away. Happily, Pokemon has subsided as an area of vast interest, replaced now by professional wrestling and mixed martial arts ... Acroterion (talk) 22:38, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Oh...I remembered what BLP is. Just took my brain a while to figure it out, heh. (P.S. I'm looking at the code to my sig, and it *should* lead the word "Gold" to my talk page, but doesn't. I can't see any difference between the way it is coded in 'Ariel', do you have any idea what I have wrong?) ArielGold 22:41, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

I think that's just because you're on your talk, the code looks right to me... Keilana|Parlez ici 22:53, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Ohhhhh DUH DUH DUH!!!!!! I did know that, really, I did! I was just testing you, Kei. ;) But when is someone going to teach me how to make REAL smiley faces!!! Heh. ArielGold 22:54, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

<3

Of course I thought of you! You were one of the first friends I made here as well and I wouldn't be half the editor or human being I am now without you. (By the way, I don't think there's a heart emoticon so you're not missing anything!) <3 Keilana|Parlez ici 23:16, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm SO happy you're back!! And I know, I just know there is a picture code for a heart face thing or something, I used to have... some program or plug in or something that had a bar in the edit area with picture emoticons you just clicked on, but I can't find it, have no idea what it was called, and doubt it is even still around, but the pictures have to still be there. I just don't remember where to find them... ArielGold 21:02, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
welcome back :-) Casliber (talk · contribs) 01:17, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Cas!!! Thanks!! I'm still overwhelmed with moving, and two serious medical issues in the family, plus my own precarious health, so I know I haven't done much but look around, I seem to be totally lost, everything, like, everything has changed... ArielGold 20:52, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
Meh, it ain't rocket science and I think there is more commonsense nowadays....any queries...just askCas Liber (talk · contribs) 11:14, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Welcome back, Ariel. I don't edit much any more but I do check my watchlist every now and then and saw your name. A blast from the past. -- DS1953 talk 15:53, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

DS! Left a note on your Talk Page, but if you watch here, just wanted you to know you're not forgotten, if you haven't been active. I'll always be greatful to you for all your help, advice, and being a great mentor and eyes and ears. Thanks, always, and still to come. Always hope you're well, and happy. Thanks for the note. Thank you, Miss Bono! ArielGold 20:52, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Lots of discussion on RfA - there are codes for stuff - as a content editor I find pagesize the most useful one - see User:Dr pda/prosesize.js - there are a bunch of them...never used any codes for watchlist...I recently deleted mine when it hit 10000 and would never load on my phone :P .Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 11:24, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

WONDERFUL!!! YOU'RE BACK!!!!

I'VE MISSED YOU!!!!! Both as a friend and as a mentor. To be truthful, I was afraid you were never coming back - so I deleted your email address from my list. There were times when I'd see an image you'd like and think of you, but... And I've forgotten how to email through Wikipedia.

I haven't a clue what RL or DSC stand for. I've been editing here in my slap-dash fashion, and added some new articles. Unfortunately I didn't know that "Do You Know..." had a 5-day limit, so I can't add them.

Send me an email, so I can add you to my list again.

Re: life in Israel. We live with war, terror and economic upheaval - yet we only had our second 'shooting spree' a month ago, and the shooter let his hostage go free before killing himself. [The first was Baruch Goldstein, and you cannot imagine the pall of sadness that settled over the country when the news broke.] But all that is for a lengthy email. Write soon, please! Welcome Home!!! All the Best, Shir-El too 19:47, 13 June 2013 (UTC) PS remind me how to put a "mentored by" tag on my page. CHEERS! :)

PPS sent you an email.
Email sent, sweetie! <3 ArielGold 00:30, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
Good to see you back here Ariel ! —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 22:14, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
Awesome to see you too, DJ!!! So many names that I've forgotten, but remember when I see them, and all the help you, and everyone had given me. I feel like a 'newbie' again! Heheheh. Hugs!! ArielGold 00:30, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

PPPS

When I couldn't figure out how to add something I'd go to the paragraph above it, hit Edit, go to the end of the text and add the double equals signs that format this PPPS heading. :) Cheers! Shir-El too 12:28, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

A cookie for you!

For your hard work, here is a cookie! JustBerry (talk) 20:26, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

OMG!!!

You're back?? Really back?? Squeeeee!!!! it's been *so* long!! Welcome back <3 - Alison 08:35, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

OMGosh! I am back! Sort of... Thanks to the superstorms in the NE, my water pipes froze, then burst, and the "apartment" I moved into has no insulation, with all heat on it can't get above 35 degrees... so I had to leave the hovel I was in, and my computer, until this below freezing weather passes... If it ever does, heh. Over 10 feet of snow plowed up in piles on the side of all roads, they haven't thawed, really nasty driving conditions since the first do the year... And it is tough to edit on a tablet, but I'm trying! I've missed you, Alli!!! <3 ArielGold 03:46, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Squee!

Yay! You're back! Hooray! Hooray! If you'd like to do something fun, I have Homer Davenport up for peer review right now. It's a fun article on a fellow who died in 1912 and this peer review should be a friendly place with Wehwalt and myself as the primary editors. Dana boomer is also giving it a peer review, but it would be super good to have a non-horsey and a not-necessarily-a-historian editor look it over to see how it reads and flows to a layperson. Our goal is to get it to FAC, so feel free to be thorough, it's not our first rodeo. Montanabw(talk) 03:39, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Montanaaaaa!! Wow, a non horsie entry! Good job! But you still rock the equine corner! Even when I couldn't edit, I could read on my phone, and knew you were still hard at work! So glad you are still here! Hugsssss!! ArielGold 03:48, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Main Page appearance

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of International Space Station spacewalks know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on December 2, 2013. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/December 2, 2013. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors Giants2008 (talk · contribs), Crisco 1492 (talk · contribs) or SchroCat (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. Thanks! © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 01:02, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

ArielGold, please note that I have moved the Main Page appearance date back to December 23, to coincide with a possible spacewalk date. Giants2008 (Talk) 03:15, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
Oooh, how wonderful! I put many, many hours into the EVA page, keeping up the total times and breaking the stats down... I have kept them in a spreadsheet, but have not found a reliable (and accurate) tally on NASA anymore, ever since the engineer who did the ISS daily summary for so many years passed away, the stats have been off... I. Glad to see others have kept up the individual EVA stats though! And a main page entry around the time they took the Olympic torch out, so awesome! Thanks for keeping me in the loop! (Out with the old...) And in with... The winter superstorm! Blah!! Miss you! I think of, and pray for you often! I met a girl here who was over on a work visa from Jerusalem, she finished and returned home and is going to college now, and I worry about her, too... I wish your corner of the world would be left alone! ~Hugs~ ArielGold 04:08, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi dear! Didn't know you were back! I think of you too... not least of all whenever I sign a post on a wiki. All things considered we're doing OK for the moment. We also had and have some very haywire weather, including a spring that started in January, though winter came back long enough to dump some much needed precipitation. All the Best! ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
