Film pages

Soviet 1961 tests

Thanks, Muhammad, for reviewing the 1961 Soviet nuclear test page. However, your title change wasn't appropriate, as this is one page in a series that will run up to some 40 pages, and will include narrative as well as the list of explosions. They are all linked (I so far have 1961-1967 in place; that was yesterday's work). They aren't intended to be list pages; eventually they should be fleshed out with more information on the Soviet series. I reverted the change. speedy deletion "~2013"

was created as an "ARCHIVE" page of out-dated topics on the TALK page of the article to which it was attached... IF i've made a formatting etc mistake in the process, please tell me what i can do to fix it, BUT: the creation of the "archive" for that particular talk page was VALID: all the topics being discussed there have no relation to the betterment of the wiki article itself but rather random chatter about "meaning" etc etc, all a few years outdated as well... i notice your account was only recently opened... it leads me to believe youve made a mistake in deleting the archive page i've noted above, for the TALK page of Babel (film), and i'm asking for its reinstatement... i've archived TALK pages in the past, and to my knowledge i've created the above Talk Archive using the same process as i'd ever done... please reinstate the page. NO. sorry: its an ARCHIVE, my friend: an archive of the TALK page in which it was placed... it's the way it's done, check any other thousands of such Talk archives... you made a mistake; admit it, and FIX IT or GET it fixed... you have no authority to be speedy-deleting pages in the first place, and your rationale of "create it in your userspace" is no rationale at all... learn the procedures before using your delete button, and don't be such a snot when youre clearly in the wrong. Hello, folks. User:Japanglish asked me to review the situation. You both seem to be mistaken.

• Muhammad ittal, per Help:Archiving a talk page, article Talk pages are indeed archived in the main article space (albeit not in the location where you found this one).
• Japanglish:

1. Muhammad ittal certainly does have authority—the same authority as all Wikipedia users—to submit pages for speedy deletion if they qualify for that treatment.
2. Article talk pages are not archived by putting them in articles named ~2013 as you did (how did you come up with that?), and Muhammad ittal had no reason to construe an article you created there to be a valid archive for an existing Talk page. The proper location is in a subpage, Talk:Babel (film)/Archive 1. If you would now like to create the archive properly, please follow the procedures outlined in Help:Archiving a talk page.
3. See WP:Civility. The manner in which you addressed Muhammad Ittal was unjustified.

Thanks back, Largo... i arrived here with a valid inquiry and approached it with civility... Muhamad's reply was too smug for someone who is clearly unfamiliar with the functions being exploited... the matter still stands: topics of discussion were deleted, and Muhamid is the one who set that in motion... i admitted from the start that if i myself had made a mistake with formatting then i'm willing to help fix it but, now i could care less actually, and i still believe Muhamad should put those folk's dialogues back. make it a new habit to ping a user in cases which may be a simple oversight; people are "working" here for free, busy with wiki & real world concerns, and may sometimes overlook something in the rush; with a momentary check, it should've been clear by context that the archive was related to that article! that said, i'll step back from this now and go have some other people's work deleted. He wrote eight simple, neutral words: "You should create such pages in your userspace." It turns out he was wrong about that, but given that he thought his remark was correct, there was nothing "smug" about it. It was actually fairly restrained given that, even before that, you had delved right into passing judgment on the amount of time he's spent here followed by telling him he was wrong to have deleted the page that you created when, in fact, he wasn't. Meanwhile, as I've demonstrated, you were wrong in three respects. Does it follow that you're being triply smug? Should I therefore address you in the manner that you addressed him?

Now you say he should "put those folk's [sic] dialogues back". No. He shouldn't re-create the article that you shouldn't have created to begin with and that he was correct to have deleted. If you were going to archive a Talk page, doesn't it stand to reason that it was your responsibility to do it correctly and that it remains your responsibility now to correct any mistakes you made in the process? As for checking with you ahead of deletion, I'm sure it looked pretty clear-cut to him. You say it should have been clear that the content he deleted was related to the article whose Talk page it came from. I suspect that to most editors, including myself, it would have looked like someone making hash by randomly copying material from elsewhere into an article with a weird name.

And to what end is your complaint? If it had somehow occurred to him that there might be some reason to consult with you ahead of deletion, you would still have had to do what you have to do now: create the archive in the proper location (the source content is still in the Talk page's history) while submitting the bad article for deletion. I removed the speedy tag that you added to Baldev Singh Sarhaknama, which has now been moved to Baldev Singh (author). If an article states an an author has won an award, this is generally enough to avoid deletion under CSD A7, although not necessarily AfD.
