Surviving WWI vets

Linking United States

Hi Anthony,

Before you go linking "United States" in too many articles, could you please read through WP:OVERLINK particularly the section about what should generally not be linked. One of these is major geographical locations, which should be commonly known, and that includes United States. At one time it was linked on most of the movie biographical articles that you're looking at, but have since been unlinked. Just have a read through and you'll see what I mean. Thanks Rossrs (talk) 14:11, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Ages

Thanks for starting of this rather gruelling task. Rather than a manual calculation have you considered using the templates available e.g. {{Death year and age}}? If not please adhere to the manual of style regarding dates and using endashes rather than hyphens as separators. NtheP (talk) 11:54, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Argiris Kavidas

A tag has been placed on Argiris Kavidas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles – see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Your recently created articles

Speedy deletion nomination of Martin Štěpánek (actor)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Martin Štěpánek (actor) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. TYelliot (talk) 21:52, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello, I'm just wondering how you have found out all the birthdates for the Coronation Street characters? Does it say somewhere?RAIN..the..ONE HOTLINE 16:26, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Coronation Street: A Knight's Tale

The article Coronation Street: A Knight's Tale has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

lack of notability; also crystalballery.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 17:12, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

I can move the article to your userspace for you to work on. After the release and the article has been expanded it can be moved back. Just let me know and I'll move it. Jarkeld (talk) 06:50, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Source?

I have repeatedly requested a source for the Ciaran McCarthy departure - could you please provide one so that it can be included in the article? OBE on top infobox

Hi, I reverted a lot of your recent edits to add OBE/MBE etc to the top of the infobox. I saw that in heavily watched articles it was removed immediately, like Paul McCartney and John Lennon by other editors. So I removed it from some others. It's not important enough to mention in the infobox, and if it is important enough it should be next to the name. Not a seperate line at the top of the infobox which makes the whole infobox even longer. Besides, it already is mentioned in the lead of the article. Garion96 (talk) 15:57, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

I agree with the reversions of your additions, please use article talk pages for discussing such proposals. Jezhotwells (talk) 16:06, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Year ranges

Hi Anthony. I notice you changed the years active at Tony Curtis to "1948-10". This is only suitable if it's in the same century, but when it spans two centuries, it should be "1948-2010". It's covered at WP:YEAR. I've reverted the edit at Tony Curtis, but if there are any others than span over two centuries could you please change them back. Thanks. Also, I notice you're not using edit summaries, and while they're not mandatory they are very helpful, even courteous, to other editors who may be looking through edit histories. Cheers, Rossrs (talk) 14:12, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

oh ok and i will do Tony (talk) 15:21, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Changing the date range from 19xx–19yy to 19xx–yy is a trivial change, not worthy of attention. Going through every biography to make this unneeded change is not recommended. Binksternet (talk) 16:44, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
I agree with Binksternet that it's unnecessary and not recommended, but if you want to do it, do it. As long as you're changing the years active, you may as well change the marriage dates, and you absolutely should. The MoS allows for either style, but to have two different styles in the same infobox, is not appropriate at all, and consistency is key. So please, if you change the date style in one area, change it in both. Example of dual date format: Carolyn Jones. I'll assume you've chosen to ignore my suggestion to use edit summaries. Cheers Rossrs (talk) 13:43, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
