Thanks for offering to help edit

Hi, Anne, and thanks for offering to provide a picture.

Pictures taken by family members are extremely valuable to us, because the copyright status is very clear and straightforward. Picture copyrights are one of our biggest problems. Fortunately, if you took the picture, or if you are the heir of the photographer, then you can license the picture to us under a free license, and we can then use it. You can make it available to us by "uploading" it to commons.

Unfortunately, "uploading to commons" is fairly intimidating to new users, and even to experienced editors. Please do not get discouraged: all of the hideous complexities are there to allow us to comply with copyright law. If you have any problem at all with this, please do not give up. Instead, please ask for help again at the help desk, or post a message here or on my talk page: we really, really need the picture! -Arch dude (talk) 01:07, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
