Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Andrewggordon84. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article MBO Partners, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 08:31, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

You last edited six months ago. I just blocked you and now you arrive to challenge the block. Please explain that. And please tell us if you are User:Mbopartners. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:06, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the quick response. I was asked by my (then) employer to make edits/adjustments. I believe that MBOPartners was an account the team had created and shared for company use/distribution. Not longer after its creation, they had learned/noticed that such an account cannot exist, and asked me to use my personal account to make edits on the company's behalf. Blocking MBOPartners, if not removing the account, now with that understanding, should not be an issue. I also was not aware of the block until this recent message in my email inbox. Thank you again for your understanding. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.194.199.98 (talk) 20:22, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please log into Andrewggordon84 rather than using an IP, then we can continue this. That is the best way to do things. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:27, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks - now logged in. Also, I should note I had a user account prior to this one I believe - I just think it got lost in a shuffle, so I can understand if there may be some inconsistencies.

Please tell me the other account name. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:43, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Did you ever make edits using the Mbopartners account? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:48, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
One more question: Were Andrewggordon edits made on the same computer/device as Mbopartners edits? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:49, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

I don't remember the other account name - it could have been andrewggordon or andrewacegordon, it's been a long time. In terms of making edits as MBOPartners, I don't remember honestly - it's possible. In terms of the same computer/device making edits as MBOPartners and andrewggordon84, I do not recall. I also no longer possess that computer, nor do I know who currently has the machine as it was "wiped" when I left the company, but is still probably in circulation with their personnel.

Okay. So, you might have edited using MBOPartners account? It was a group account, right? You had the password, others had the password? That sort of thing?
How about the edit here? Was that you?
Please tell me what article(s) you edited using your old account. Surely, you can remember that, right? Was this you? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:15, 11 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

1. :Okay. So, you might have edited using MBOPartners account? It was a group account, right? You had the password, others had the password? That sort of thing?

    • Yes

2. :How about the edit here? Was that you?

    • If it was to any MBO Partners related entity, then it must be.

3. In terms of articles I edited from my old account, it included Imagination Stage for sure, I just don't remember under what username I had made those edits. The ones I recently made for Stephen Broast are under my current account.

Unblocked edit

I've unblocked your account. Please feel welcome here. Thank you for tolerating all those questions. We take sockpuppetry and COI editing seriously here, so I had a responsibility to ask. Please ensure that you do not edit MBO or related articles.

If there is anything you ever need or have any questions, please ask. I encourage you to help build the encyclopedia. Thank you, and happy editing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:19, 11 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks you - I certainly understand, and appreciate the work you do.
And thank you. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:49, 14 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
