Request reason:

reason

Hi @Bbb23
I am writing in response to the notification that I have received regarding the suspension of my account. I would like to appeal the decision.
First, I do apologize for accessing the same account with different IPs
We are a group of University students in Valladolid in Spain and we are conducting the “Edit-a-thon” event of Wikipedia. We are a group of students from different parts of the world who are supporting the LGBTQ+ community and the Women in our society.
We wish to translate articles of women in order to empower and raise awareness about the powerful women in the field of literature. This is our very first event to help people specifically women as the cause of our group.
We apologize for not knowing some rules and regulations of Wikipedia. I hope that you will consider this appeal so that we can help those women who are not globally known but deserve those recognitions. We wish to work with you and we will ensure to make reasonable steps and changes so that we do not interfere with or compromise your page.
We thank you and we support and believe in your cause. AllThisPaperwork (talk) 07:12, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Are you the organizer of this edit-a-thon? "Empower and raise awareness" and "help those women who are not globally known but deserve recognition" are promotional purposes. Wikipedia is not a way to honor or recognize someone for their work. Wikipedia is not for raising awareness- a subject must already be known to merit an article. We need more articles about women- so that is a worthy cause- but the presence of an article must depend not on honoring or promoting someone, but in what independent reliable sources choose to say about a person, showing how they meet the definition of a notable person.

The underlying reason for the block is undisclosed paid editing, though you do not speak to this in your request. How are you selecting the subjects of your edits? I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:21, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi @331dot

Thank you for your time going through my request. I just want to clarify some things: 1. I'm not an organizer of Edit-a-thon. It is an event made by wikipedia which we wish to participate. 2. My students and I are supposed to do these in participation for the Women's month. However, we didn't have time to do it because of the exams during last week of March and now everyone's on vacation because of the Holy week being celebrated here in Spain. 3. We have tried to choose women specifically from Spain. 4. We do not intend to promote someone on wikipedia. We just want to join the Women's month celebration which has ended 4 days ago. But we still wish to continue doing it not just because it's Women's month. We apologise if our intention wasn't clear. 5. We do not pay someone to do this translation. We are doing it because we want to and no one was forced to do it. We want to have equal recognitions from men to women. I hope with all these reasons would change your mind. We appreciate and love to hear feedbacks from people if we have made mistakes and will make sure that those won't be repeated again. We are not experts using Wikipedia. In fact, we have only started doing it last month and we wish to participate more and I hope that you will continue to give us more opportunity. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for pointing out our mistakes. We do not intend to promote. My students intentions are pure and we hope to have second chance from you.

After creating a userpage, your first edits were to create Shira Kuperman-Segal. What was your reason for creating this article?--Bbb23 (talk) 17:08, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Another question for you: what are the usernames of your students?--Bbb23 (talk) 18:29, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi, @Bbb23
To answer your questions:
1. Shira Kuperman-Segal was the very first page that I created. She's also a woman of power. She's a very notable person in Israel and I think that she deserves some credit. I was trying to edit it for months and publish it during Women's Month. Again, in order to join the cause.
2. Recently my students and I have been trying to edit 5 Spanish Authors as part of Women's Month and to participate in the “Edit-a-thon” event of Wikipedia. We have been using the AllThisPaperwork account as we have published a "draft" page for these 5 Authors and we have been polishing it for days. Since I'm no expert on Wikipedia. I thought that using the same account to edit the "Draft" page would be ok, because they are still in draft and not have been published to the mainspace yet.
3. When the account got blocked, I asked my student to create another user so they can edit the "draft" page. Here are their usernames:
Keeran01
Ralph22v93
NGOYA01
Merlene02
4. Again, we just want to clarify that this is not paid work, we all volunteer our time for this learning experience  unless you consider me being paid by my reputable university, which is highly impossible.
I hope that this clarifies everything. Thank you AllThisPaperwork (talk) 16:02, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
When the account got blocked, I asked my student to create another user so they can edit the "draft" page. That's not completely accurate. Your account was blocked on April 3. Keeran01 was created on March 23, well before your account was blocked. Merlene02 was created on April 2, and I blocked it along with your account at the same time. By all rights, I should block the other accounts as meat puppets, even if they are not sock puppets. As for your claims overall, I don't find them very credible and suspect you are in fact a sock - or a meat puppet - of another user.--Bbb23 (talk) 16:23, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
