Proposed deletion of Middlefaire edit

The article Middlefaire has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable event; does not meet the general notability criteria.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 02:59, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for giving me this notice. I knew I was coming back in a few hours to work on the article, but of course neither you nor anyone else would know that I was going to follow through. I've added more information and five different sources including The Dallas Morning News which is one of the 20th largest newspapers in America, at least according to Wikipedia. :-) I know the article's still a stub, but hopefully I have enough there to keep it up until it can be expanded. As you suggested that I could remove the tag if I thought the problem was corrected, I am doing so. If I'm in error please let me know. Alden Loveshade (talk) 04:29, 11 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Flying Pen Press edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Flying Pen Press requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sparthorse (talk) 01:30, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Flying Pen Press edit

Thank you for the message on my talk page. I have left a further comment on the article's talk page about the reliability of the sources. I still don't see a compelling case made through reliable sources that shows why the article is notable. Both notability and verifiability are core policies of Wikipedia that have been in place, substantially unchanged, for many years. Thanks, Sparthorse (talk) 02:48, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate your follow-up messages. I think you'll find I've added reliable sources.
As for the policies being substantially unchanged for many years, I'll button my lips before I go into my "I was editing wikis before Wikipedia even existed. Let me tell you about the good old days" rant. :-) Alden Loveshade (talk) 03:22, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Flying Pen Press edit

The article Flying Pen Press has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A minor book publisher which may not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines. There is one source which appears to meet Wikipedia's guidelines on reliable sources, but at least one further source should be provided to demonstrate notability. See the article's talk page for further discussion.

Status and Advice edit

I deleted this one, not primarily for lack of a claim to importance, but because of the promotionalism--listing every possible connection important or unimportant. You can try again, but I suggest you wait for the decision on Flying Pen Press first, for much the same issues are relevant. If it is kept, ask me to restore this & I will do so. DGG ( talk ) 04:24, 20 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate that you let me know what I could do. I have asked an admin who can move the article to my user space to do so--although if you can do it that would be great. Once I have that if you could give me suggestions on how I can take care of any problems I would really appreciate it. Alden Loveshade (talk) 18:04, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Done. Now at User:Alden Loveshade/Anaphora Literary Press. when it's ready for me to look at, let me know on my talk page. DGG ( talk ) 18:15, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I will look over your notes and see what I can do to take care of any problems. Alden Loveshade (talk) 18:19, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dear Administrator:

I was delighted to read the listing for my Anaphora Literary Press and I'm very disappointed that it was deleted. I read through the listing and it had numerous citations from articles and magazines where my press and my Pennsylvania Literary Journal were sited. The listing was not an advertisement. If it was - every listing for a business on Wikipedia would be an advertisement. It stated only the most essential information about the press. If you have specific advice about what Alden should delete from the listing, I'm sure he'd be happy to delete un-necessary content that sounds like an advertisement. But, please pull the listing back up - so that he doesn't have to start from scratch. I published over 20 books with Anaphora this year alone, and we've had numerous reviews at notable magazines like Midwest Literary Review and the Library Journal. I read through Wikipedia's "Notability" requirements, and we definetely fit this definition. I can give specific quotes from the policy, if you need additional proof that the state of the website when you deleted it complied fully with Wikipedia requirements. Thank you in advance for your help with resolving this matter.

Cordially,

Anna Faktorovich, PhD, Director Anaphora Literary Press English Lecturer, Middle Georgia College pennsylvaniajournal@gmail.com (814) 273-0004 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.116.244.239 (talk) 20:34, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

To clarify, I notified Anaphora Literary Press of the article after I began it. I generally do so when I write articles for wikis (or anything else, for that matter) and have done so since before Wikipedia even existed (anyone remember the original H2G2?). While I appreciate Anna Faktorovich's concerns, the administrator DGG has kindly sent the article to my user space where I can work to fix the problems. DGG has also agreed to review it for me to see if it's been fixed and is suitable for Wikipedia. If it is, the admin will advise me to put it back; if not, the admin will advise me not to. Wikipedia policies can sometimes be difficult, but if they didn't work Wikipedia wouldn't be the fifth most visted site on the Internet. Alden Loveshade (talk) 18:15, 22 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
as nobody is working on it, I've removed it. If you do want it again, let me know. DGG ( talk ) 04:45, 5 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK, but will take a few days--I'm having computer access problems. DGG ( talk ) 00:05, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
That's fine. I appreciate it. Alden Loveshade (talk) 17:37, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'll try, but I'm still using a borrowed internet connection. After 13 calls to them --I've kept a log--it is now 4 pages long--, Verizon finally restored the phone service this afternoon, but not yet the internet. DGG ( talk ) 05:05, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
