Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:1872-3.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:53, 11 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Egypt philatelic edits

edit

I am sorry to have had to revert your edits to Mail and I have also tagged as a copyright violation Postage stamps and postal history of Egypt‎ a page that you created. It is totally improper and unacceptable to do a simple cut and paste of copyright material from another website even if you do not see no copyright notice on the website. Someone owns the material and have copyrights to it which they have not released to you to use, unless you have specific permission that Wikipedia can use.

You are certainly encouraged to use some information from their site for a Wikipedia article written in original form using some of the Egypt Post website as a source but simply lifting a whole lot of text is not permitted and it will be removed. As a suggestion, if you want to see what a good postage quality stamp article looks like, Postage stamps of Ireland which is a Featured Article would be a good place to start. If you need some help please ask.

I see that you have also uploaded some stamp images that do not have any copyright information and may be deleted by an administrator. You must only upload appropriately copyrighted images. I not been able to find out what the Egypt copyright is for their stamps but it does not appear here nor is Egype mentioned on the connected talk page, so you may have to investigate what the status is for Egypt stamps. You will likely want to know that there is a Wikiproject for philately that you may want to join and a philately portal which I loook after for the time being. ww2censor 01:35, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Mail. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. ww2censor 03:38, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

File:1872-2.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Egyptian stamp.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 23:18, 28 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
