Parshurama

Could you summarise what sort of information you want to add to the Parshurama. Do you want to add information about living descendants or family? (People alive today that are descendant from Parshurama.) Or something else? Nil Einne (talk) 14:38, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

@Nil Einne The whole article is incomplete. Legends from epics & overall view on Avatar is only focused on warrior aspect of Parshurama. There is benevolent side which is missing. Adbhonsle (talk) 07:17, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

Agree with what you are saying, but there is lot of incomplete details in article. In couple of days I'll update it. I would support restrictions if anything of that sort happens in future.

I haven't looked much at your edits, but I will say make sure whatever you add is supported by reliable sources. These should generally be secondary sources. Citing stuff directly to primary sources including the texts where Parashurama appears needs to be done with great care and should be very limited. It doesn't matter how sure you are something is correct, you need sources. Second, I'd urge you not to touch anything about living or other recent descendants of Parashurama be it individuals or groups who claim such descent. While I personally have doubts anything like this belongs in our article, even if it does belong your inexperience means you're not the editor who should be adding it. @Nil Einne The sources cited in article are English Translation done by East India Company during Colonial Rule. They are incorrect due to misinterpretion(lack of knowledge) of Sanskrit Language. I have taken most of info from English Translation of the Purananas. I will cite them with those, some are avaliable on archive.org.

I'd add that if there is a lot of existing content cited directly to English translations Purananas from any period, then it would likely be acceptable to remove this content. It would be better if instead of just removing it, you find other sources that are not the Puarananas and add content based on them. However removing poorly sourced content is often acceptable. Trying to fix a poorly sourced article by adding more or different poorly sourced content doesn't generally help. Note the important distinction here, this needs to be content sourced directly to the Purananas. If the content is sourced to secondary sources then even if you feel these secondary sources rely on outdated translations you need take a lot more care in removing it. Perhaps open a discussion on the talk page explaining why you feel this content should be removed despite being sourced to secondary sources. If you don't get any response, it might be an option to ask at WP:RSN with a focus on whether these sources are old enough that they are no longer reliable. Whatever you do, I'd suggest you start slow. Again, it will be a lot easier if you find substantially newer or "better" secondary sources you that you want to use instead and are able to explain why these sources are better perhaps pointing to differences or even better scholarly articles which have reviewed or assessed these "better" secondary sources.
