Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello, Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Jax 0677, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge. Although you're free to perform most tasks on Wikipedia without registering, it's highly recommended you create an account as there are many added benefits. It's private and secure and it's also free, simple, and quick to do.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
    Introduction to Wikipedia
    The five pillars of Wikipedia
    Editing tutorial
    How to edit a page
    Simplified Manual of Style
    The basics of Wikicode
    How to develop an article
    How to create an article
    Help pages
    What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
    Do be bold
    Do assume good faith
    Do be civil
    Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
    Don't spam
    Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
    Don't commit vandalism
    Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
    Ask a question
or you can:
    Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page, and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
    Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles

    Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your IP address linked to your contributions page (however, if you create an account, your IP address will be hidden and you will be able to build a custom signature that can link to your own user page), a link to this (this IP's talk) page, and a timestamp.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. If you register an account, you can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you could put a link to it on your user page.

Sincerely, Jax 0677 (talk) 18:15, 3 March 2018 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)Reply

March 2018

edit

Thanks for contributing to the article Hard Feelings (album) . However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable, by being clearly attributed to reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. Please help by adding more sources to the article you edited, and/or by clarifying how the sources already given support the claims (see here for how to do inline referencing). Thanks! P.S. If you need any help, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:15, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Updating chart peaks

edit

Do not update chart peaks if you cannot update the accompanying references (usually placed at the top of the table columns). This is, in effect, adding unsourced information and is against our most basic editing policy, WP:V. It is up to you, as the editor supplying new information, to make sure sources on the page support the material you are adding (WP:BURDEN). You have been at this for months, so I think it's appropriate to say you need to learn how to reference if you intend to stick around (WP:Referencing). If you continue to disregard this week after week, you will be warned multiple times (whether you use multiple IP addresses or not, it is very easily identifiable as the editor who adds peaks to rock and metal musical acts' discographies) before you are reported and you may end up blocked. So I advise you to stop now while you are ahead. Ss112 08:40, 24 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

August 2018

edit

Hello, I'm Glane23. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Fantastic Four (2015 film)— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk or my talk page. Thank you. If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

October 2018

edit

Again, you updated High on Fire with a Billboard 200 peak without checking (or caring) if the accompanying reference was to the new Billboard website. It wasn't, so you were reverted. You will continue to be reverted any time you add peaks without updating the accompanying URL, because this is technically adding unsourced information. See WP:V.   Hello, I'm Tarheel95. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Escape (Journey album)— because it did not appear constructive. January 2019

edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Deerhunter discography, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. You need to make sure the source in the column is one to billboard.com, works, and shows the peak at it. Don't add peaks to a column if the reference at the top of it is outdated. You will be reverted. Ss112 10:39, 29 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
