203.25.141.7 is an educational facility with many users, hence the vandalism. Maybe it should be permanently blocked? —Preceding comment added by User 203.25.141.7, 22:34, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much for the information and suggestion. Unfortunately, a permanent block would deny access to Wikipedia for the many innocent and positive contributors who happen to share this IP address—with the thoughtless and inconsiderate few who apparently believe that their disruptive behaviour is a good use of their precious time in education.
We should also recognise that edits from from a large educational facility, while frequently including repeated acts of deliberate vandalism by a small number of offenders, may also represent separate editing tests and errors made by numerous first-time users; this sometimes gives the impression that a single editor is persistently engaged in wilful damage. To avoid further preventive measures being taken, users are strongly advised to perform tests in the sandbox, and to use the show preview button before saving. Serious contributors might also like to consider the advantages of using an individual account for editing. [Paragraph added 09:44, 23 March 2009 (UTC)]
As you'll see from the notice that now appears at the top of this page, this IP address has been identified as being registered to Mackay campus at the Central Queensland Institute of TAFE. Editors are encouraged to respect and observe Wikipedia's core principles. However, if persistent vandalism continues from this IP address, further blocks will ensue—and abuse reports may be forwarded to TAFE's administration for investigation. March 2010

This is the final warning you will receive for your disruptive edits, such as those you made to Susan (given name). If you vandalize Wikipedia again, you will be blocked from editing.  Chzz  ►  04:36, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

This IP Address is also shared by another campus Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE which spans across more than seven campuses. They do indeed use a proxy server to monitor and filter web requests. Consider leniency for the IP Address(es) involved as they are shared by more than 1000 Students and faculty staff.

Decline reason:

Looking the list of warnings above, there appears to be significant disruption from anonymous users at this address. This block does not affect logged in users; instructions for creating an account are linked above. Thanks. Kuru (talk) 02:19, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Thank you Kuru and Chzz. Sorry to have wasted your time too. It's a shame but unfortunately students cannot be trusted sometimes and Wikipedia is too important to be ruined by the small-mindedness of the few who transgress. I'd honestly suggest a perma-ban on this IP address as this will only become an issue again once the account is unbanned.

I won't be making an account here as I have in the past and even though my intentions were good I was put off by other people's 'elitism' and annoyed at having simple grammatical errors (which I corrected) reverted so that 'glory seekers' could add to their tally. Cheers, TAFEdude
