Date 16 April 1951 – present (8 months, 16 days) Location Egypt Status Ongoing As of January 1952: The forces of the Arab Republic of Egypt (Nationalists) control most of northern and western Egypt including Alexandria, Benghazi, Port Said, the Mediterranean Sea coast, and parts of the Nile Delta. The forces of the Islamic Republic of Egypt (Islamists) control most of central, southern and eastern Egypt including Cairo, Aswan, Port Sudan, the Red Sea coast, and parts of the Nile Delta. The forces of the People's Republic of Egypt (Syndicalists) control no territory but are waging an active insurgency in the Nile Delta.
