Jerome "Jerry" Mouse is a fictional character and half of the academy-award winning Tom and Jerry cartoon cat-and-mouse duo. He is a brown anthropomorphic mouse who first appeared in the 1940 animated short Puss Gets the Boot. Jerry was known as "Jinx" in that short; however, from his next appearance in The Midnight Snack and onwards, he is known as "Jerry". Jerry has walked on two legs since his first appearance. His last appearance was in The Karate Guard. Most of the time when he and Tom were enemies, he would outwit Tom and leave him "defeated" in the end, but there have been times when Tom outwitted him. This makes Tom and Jerry one of the few cartoon rivalries where each side has been beaten by the other. Jerry Mouse danced with Gene Kelly in Anchors Aweigh.

Motion picture special effects edit

In the 1945 American musical comedy film, Anchors Aweigh, Gene Kelly can be seen "hoofing with an animated mouse".[1] It is "notable for the sequence" for this half of "TOM AND JERRY fame".[2]
