Bertha Swirles/page metrics

edit

Hi :) I added the copyedit flag because the info you put in the article isn't that encyclopedic. It's more for an almanac. It's also not that notable, imho. Pure stats about the viewership or use of something aren't that important without some context. Not sure it really belongs in Wiki at this point- suggest you add some supporting/informational data... :) Veryproicelandic (talk) 02:16, 1 February 2015 (UTC) Hi, I think you will find "/" is the give away, indicating it is a subpage. However, in order for the template to work I am afraid i have had to move it to a subpage of the talk page. I hope this Ok with you? Leutha (talk) 19:56, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on International Institute of Industrial Relations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Hi, thanks for creating the Valerian Obolensky-Ossinsky article. I moved the article too Valerian Osinsky, since it seems to be the normal way to transliterate his name (an few works seem to mention him with his long name; Obolensky)... I'm currently working on turning the Central Committee elected by the 16th Congress of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) and the Central Committee elected by the 17th Congress of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), so the more red links disappear the happier I get! --TIAYN (talk) 09:59, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

... where you live! Thanks a million (or as the staid 18th century French used to say, mille mercis) for your help at the BL on Monday. Your parting shot about talk pages was very apposite. I'm about to send an email circular to the foodies who were present reminding them about this and embedding a link to my talk page. If you think it's a good idea, I'll add a link to yours as well. Andrew Dalby 20:07, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply! I am a bit further off than you may think (see la:User:Andrew Dalby for non-Google street view) but I'm still glad to know about the London meetups. It is possible I will turn up occasionally. I used to know the City of York, which can't be far from the meeting place.
Your description of using Wikipedia to make research notes and add bibliographical references matches closely what I do too -- only I now tend to do it in Latin. I find it handy that short stubs (but with bibliography) are maybe more acceptable on Vicipaedia than here. I've also started a series of articles on individual recorded meals, all documented, but not all quite as famous as the Last Supper, the most recent historically being Keith Floyd's last lunch and the oldest so far being a funerary meal of about 3000 BC -- and, thanks to a conversation at this last Symposium, I now know of another much older that I can add to the category. While developing these articles I haven't had to argue their notability, as I might have had to do here.
We'll keep in touch, I suspect. Andrew Dalby 16:00, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 2016 in public domain, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2015 in public domain. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:28, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Edit summaries, multiple consecutive edits

edit

Hello Leutha, and thanks for your contributions. A couple of general editing suggestions for you to consider:

  • Please make a habit of providing an edit summary when you make a change to an article. Doing so makes it easier for your colleagues here to understand the intention of your edit.
  • Plus, it will be easier for you and your co-editors to collaborate on articles if, instead of making multiple consecutive edits in rapid succession on an article, you use the "Show preview" button to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits. This keeps the page history of the article less cluttered.

Thanks in advance for considering these suggestions. Eric talk 19:18, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
