In December 2012 Milne broke his neck diving into the ocean, leaving him paralysed from from the chest down. He took up archery, a sport which he had tried as a teenager, as it allowed him to keep his mind off his injuries and could be easily performed in a chair. [1] After his accident he tried wheel-chair tennis but did not enjoy it.[3] Previously a carpenter, Milne now works full time at the Abbey Archery store in Castle Hill. He is married. [1]

Milne competes in the Compound Bow division.[4] Within the division he is classified as an ARW2 (W2) athlete for archers who are impaired in the legs.

In 2015 he competed at the National Para Champions held in Melbourne, placing first.[5]

Milne was selected to compete at the 2015 Para World Championships, whereby if he placed within the top 19 he would qualify for the 2016 Rio Paralympics. He placed an impressive 4th place, losing the bronze final to Great Britain's John Stubbs.[6]

As of July 2016, he is ranked number 40 in the world in the men's open compound classification. [7]
