Kim Boa (Korean: 김보아; born January 14, 1987), also known mononymously as Boa, is a South Korean singer-songwriter. Initially working as a vocal coach and guide vocalist, she made her debut as a member of Spica under B2M Entertainment in 2012.
Career
editPre-debut
editStarting when she was 21, Kim worked as a guide vocalist and vocal coach. She recorded the guide vocals for the T-ara songs "Lovey-Dovey", "Bo Peep Bo Peep", and "Roly-Poly", and the Infinite songs "Paradise", "Be Mine", and "BTD (Before the Dawn)". She was a vocal coach for the Infinite members.[2]
2012–2017: Spica
editOn January 10, 2012, she made her debut as a member of Spica under B2M Entertainment, the agency of Lee Hyori, with the single "Doggedly".[3]
In 2015, Kim appeared on King of Mask Singer as "Take My Sword! Romantic Assassin", reaching the final round for the 7th Generation Mask King.[4]
CJ E&M announced Spica's disbandment on February 6, 2017.[5]
2018–present: Keembo, solo debut
editIn 2020, Kim and fellow former Spica member Kim Bo-hyung formed the duo Keembo, named for the two shared syllables of their names. They made their debut under Ara-Line on April 10 with the single "Thank You, Anyway".[6][7] Kim featured on rapper Truedy's song "Love Yourself", released on December 3, 2021.[8]

editKim was born on January 14, 1987. She attended the Department of Applied Music at Yeoju University.[1]
