Port Huron out of the Detroit market range? edit

The only station that registered on the latest ratings (found at stationratings.com) is WSAQ, and it didn't fair too well. I think rather than adding the Port Huron stations to the template, we should be going the other way. Any opinions/objections? JPG-GR 00:41, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Windsor edit

Can I ask precisely what criterion is being used to decide that three of Windsor's 13 radio signals should be on the Detroit template and the other 10 shouldn't be? Bearcat (talk) 00:54, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

My desire to not edit war over removing them haha. Seriously, though, they don't belong because they are not physically located in the market. JPG-GR (talk) 00:58, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Yeah, but the markets are so intertwined. Maybe the template should be combined with Windsor's. Dp76764 (talk) 01:05, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Windsor doesn't have its own template. It's combined with Sarnia and Chatham into a single Southwestern Ontario template, and the existence of that template isn't up for debate. I've no objection to including all of Windsor's stations in the Detroit template if people feel that to be necessary, though I still believe that the templates simply providing a text link to each other should be more than sufficient, but it's a subjective WP:NPOV violation to arbitrarily decide that some Windsor stations belong to the Detroit market while others don't. And as long as Windsor is physically within Canada and its radio stations are owned and operated by Canadian companies, it's also an NPOV violation to decide that their Canadian ownership and regulatory context isn't sufficiently important to merit inclusion in a Canadian market template just because the stations also have an audience in Detroit, which is why merging the Southwestern Ontario template entirely out of existence — or taking Windsor off of it and including those stations only in the Detroit template — simply aren't up for discussion. • My only problem with the text link between the templates is that it's very small and obscure. It's not something a casual reader, who is unfamiliar with the mechanics of Wikipedia, will intuitively deduce. Detroit and Windsor share many radio (and television) stations; it's difficult to cut a hard line (via the border) and say that they are separate things. My point, I guess, is, no, Windsor stations should not be removed from their proper Canadian templates, etc; however, I would like to see a more significant mention of them in the Detroit templates, etc, as many of them play a significant role in the culture of Detroit as well. So, I guess that means I would like to see all 13 added to the Detroit template Dp76764 (talk) 01:55, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I would venture a guess that the majority of people who care about the radio stations that may or may not be listed in this template are from the Detroit/Windsor area. As one of those such people, I can say with some deal of confidence that said people can identify a Detroit station from a Windsor station (from a Toledo station). CIDR, CIMX and CKWW edit

These stations do target Detroit. CIDR and CIMX call themselves "Windsor/Detroit's Real Rock Variety" and "Windsor/Detroit's New Rock Alternative" respectively, while CKWW simply calls itself "Motor City Favorites" (seemingly caring more about Detroit than Windsor). Should these three stations be included on both templates despite being on the Canadian side of the border? This is nothing new, 5 stations appear on both a Canadian (Vancouver, Kingston or Montreal) and a US (Bellingham, Watertown, Burlington-Plattsburgh or Northern New York) template, and nearly a dozen Mexican stations in Tijuana, Mexicali, Juarez and Reynosa are included in the San Diego, Yuma-El Centro, El Paso and Brownsville templates, respectively, due to being English-speaking stations that target American audiences. So if this exists on other templates, then why not here? TomG2002 (talk) 00:34, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

The question was why some Windsor stations were being added here while others weren't. Bearcat (talk) 20:03, 6 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
