Request redirect edit

The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia is the same country as Serbia and Montenegro just under a different name. The link Federal Republic of Yugoslavia redirects to Serbia and Montenegro. I request that this page be redirected to Template:Country data Serbia and Montenegro. McLerristarr (Mclay1) (talk) 01:36, 21 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Should redirect to Serbia and Montenegro, not Serbia. For example to Serbia and Montenegro national football team, not to Serbia national football team as it does currently. 83.131.243.41 (talk) 21:17, 7 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 6 December 2014 edit

Adding redirect alias code 'FRY'. Because, FR Yugoslavia is too long. Leesw616 (talk) 04:52, 6 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

That's simply a matter of creating a redirect here from Template:Country data FRY. I'll list it as a redirect alias in this template if that is done. SiBr4 (talk) 08:33, 6 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wrapper function edit

Following the model of Template:Country data Burma and Template:Country data Myanmar (see discussion at Template talk:Country data Burma#Requested move 16 August 2015 and changes implemented by @SiBr4:) I propose that this template become a wrapper function for Template talk:Country data Serbia and Montenegro since the two were the same state with different names and only one article exists on the state. I've setup sandboxes at Template:Country data FR Yugoslavia/sandbox and Template:Country data Serbia and Montenegro/sandbox, and reused the testcases from User:SiBr4/sandbox. This would involve moving Template:Country data FR Yugoslavia to Template:Country data Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to avoid the complication of an alias that also needs to be wrapped (since the template is at FR Yugoslavia and not the full name). Note that I've deliberately changed the shortname of FR Yugoslavia to include the FR, to distinguish it from all the other Yugoslavias. {{army}}, {{air force}} and {{navy}} aren't working for FR Yugoslavia. Template-protected edit request on 23 September 2016 edit

Please fix the basketball, handball and water polo aliases with {{{mw|men's}}} because the templates {{bk}}, {{hb}}, {{wp}} create wrong wikilinks (they link to redirect pages).

Template-protected edit request on 5 March 2018 edit

Please change the link from Serbia national basketball team to Yugoslavia national basketball team. According to FIBA, that's more accurate. Yugoslavia / Serbia. Thanks! Why do these links even lead to Serbia? Is it because the articles had not been created? --Pelmeen10 (talk) 21:43, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

  Done — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:14, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
@MSGJ: Okay, I'm gonna specify the request, the new code should be following:

1) | link alias-basketball = Yugoslavia {{{mw}}} national {{{age|}}} basketball team 2)| link alias-volleyball = Serbia and Montenegro {{{mw|men's}}} national volleyball team 3)| link alias-handball = Serbia and Montenegro {{{mw|men's}}} national handball team 4)| link alias-water polo = Serbia and Montenegro {{{mw|men's}}} national water polo team 5)| link alias-baseball = Serbia and Montenegro national baseball team

I'm gonna let you know if it doesn't work out. Thanks! --Pelmeen10 (talk) 23:17, 5 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
  Done. Third time lucky?! — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:09, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
@MSGJ: 1 problem, I guess I was myself mistaken with basketball link here, sorry (other sports are OK). "{{{mw}}}" makes the link incomplete, example: {{bk|FRY}} →   Yugoslavia – So, it should be like the rest of them: "{{{mw}}}" → "{{{mw|men's}}}". --Pelmeen10 (talk) 13:35, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
What if we just default to blank? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:50, 6 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

The edit war on Yugoslavia national basketball team has continued. Users continue to insist that FIBA's grouping is irrelevant, so we are now (as of this edit [1]) in a situation where clicking on the "Yugoslavia" link on the 1998 and 2002 FIBA World Championship pages leads to a page whose records do not include those tournaments. 46.17.166.68 (talk)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. — JJMC89(T·C) 02:25, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
probably that edit should be reverted (and the data should be removed from Serbia national basketball team), in accordance with this source [2], but if the discussion there is resolved with no changes, "link alias-basketball" here should be changed to the Serbia and Montenegro team. 46.17.166.68 (talk) 13:22, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please change |alias= to "Federal Republic of Yugoslavia". The link is WP:NOTBROKEN, and prevents confusion (currently, if you hover over the flagicon, the alt text states "Serbia and Montenegro", which is misleading). Thanks, S.A. Template-protected edit request on 25 January 2020 edit

Please fix the link-alias-basketball line to Serbia and Montenegro {{{mw|}}} national {{{age|}}} basketball team and also change the shortname alias from Yugoslavia to FR Yugoslavia because currently I'm forced to create wikilinks like this:
{{bk|Serbia and Montenegro|name=FR Yugoslavia}}  FR Yugoslavia,
whilst the sandbox version is much easier:
{{bk|FR Yugoslavia/sandbox}}  Yugoslavia.
Thanks. Maiō T. (talk) 13:00, 25 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Maiō T.: would this have any unintended consequences? What about teams before FRY was formed? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:36, 28 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
@MSGJ: Yugoslavian teams before 1992 have their own template (Template:Country data Yugoslavia). I don't see any problem with link alias basketball. Shortname alias "Yugoslavia" is not good. Editors must use |name=FR Yugoslavia parameter in templates, see these 67 articles. Maiō T. (talk) 18:18, 28 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
I've now fixed the basketball link. As for the second part, the shortname parameter also generates links in some of the flag templates, will any articles be affected? Also, I'm unsure if changing instances of "Yugoslavia" to "FR Yugoslavia" will be desired in every article? S.A. Julio (talk) 18:43, 28 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
S.A. Julio, please see my sandbox. I've created links for every flag template. For both {{Country data FR Yugoslavia}} and {{Country data FR Yugoslavia/sandbox}}. Do you see any problem there? As for your second question, there are too many articles that contain templates with code |FR Yugoslavia in Wikipedia. I can't check them all. I picked one - 1998 FIFA World Cup. It definitely needs to add "FR". And maybe 99% other articles need that, too. Maiō T. (talk) 19:45, 30 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
There are six Yugoslavia pages on your sandbox which do not have a corresponding article/redirect at FR Yugoslavia. Does this need resolving? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:24, 2 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
futsal & ru - Fixed. I created redirects.
esc & gb - These redlinks are correct. FR Yugoslavia did not participate.
nbt & niht - These wikilinks are red because of /sandbox in the template code which resulting in "/sandbox" in wikilink.
