interesting article and hooks on good sources. I prefer the original hook and would reword it slightly, less technically:
ALT2: ... that the San Antonio Municipal Auditorium (pictured) was built as a memorial to American soldiers killed in World War I?
Consider to make the first paragraph with the many citations part of the body and leave just a summary as the lead, mentioning the hook fact ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:29, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
