Aya Hirano edit

  • ... that Japanese voice actress and singer Aya Hirano spent part of her early life in the United States? Source: "Voice Actress/Singer Aya Hirano to Perform at Otakon". Anime News Network. Retrieved January 31, 2013.

  • Comment: If possible, I would like to request a special occasion hook for her birthday on October 8, but if this is not accepted, I would instead request for an alternative special date request on August 31, the date of an important plot point in the Endless Eight arc of the Haruhi Suzumiya series.

  • - Article checks out based on mechanical check of readable text for length and potential copyvio; Nomination seems to have been on the same day as promotion to GA seems (if I understood the data correctly); as GA, article does seem to be free of outstanding issues. This checks out as far as I can tell. My only problem is that the hook's aren't as interesting as I'd like; the proposed one is fine, and so is Alt#2, while #3 is too generic, IMHO. Overall, seems okay to me. - Alternativity (talk) 05:13, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
@Alternativity: Thanks. What about the special occasion date though, is it approved? I think October 8 is a bit too far, but what about August 31? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:59, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
  • @Alternativity: if none of the hooks are interesting (which they aren't), please don't approve this. The nominator should submit an alternative. Yoninah (talk) 23:56, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
He said he's fine with ALT0 and ALT1, but wished there were more interesting hooks. Nevertheless, I'll see if I can find anything else that can be used as additional hooks. I'm also pinging Juhachi who's the article's primary contributor. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:01, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
  • @Narutolovehinata5: the problem with these hooks is they sound like they're written for a fan magazine. Most Wikipedia readers are not interested in these cotton candy details of the performer's life. Yoninah (talk) 00:06, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
I see, do you have any suggestions for a hook? I took a look at her Japanese Wikipedia page for possible new information, but it's quite barebones and mostly just a list. Also, could this work as ALT3? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:14, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT3 ... that the song ""Bōken Desho Desho?" by Aya Hirano sold out on retail and online stores for several days after it was released? Source: [1]
ALT4 ... that Aya Hirano received her first role as a voice actress at the age of 14? Source: [2]-- 01:00, 29 July 2018 (UTC)
As Narutolovehinata5 thought, I did indeed and still feel that Alt0, Alt1 and now Alt4 are interesting enough, although just barely. I feel that Alt 2 and Alt 3 are entirely too bland. But this is rather subjective, so this bieng only my second DYK review ever, I had best defer to more experienced reviewers when it comes to the viability of existing or any upcoming proposed hooks.- Alternativity (talk) 05:43, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
  • I agree, ALT4 is a good hook. Let's go with that. ALT4 hook ref verified and cited inline. Rest of review per Alternativity. ALT4 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 09:39, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
@Yoninah: You accidentally used the DYK?no tick instead of the DYKtick tick. Also, I guess this can be moved to the special occasion area now? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:52, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
@Narutolovehinata5: sorry, I found some close paraphrasing but then fixed it myself. I'll move this to the special occasions holding area. Yoninah (talk) 10:00, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
