- First off, if you live there, than you must know that the place is certainly not named after Binyamin's hand, but in memory of Binyamin Mintz. Next, the original format of the page was not up to WP standards. WP is an encyclopedia, not a directory or a tourist guide. Some parts are redundant and some are clearly unacceptable as well (transportation for one). I suggest that you browse other village/city articles in Israel or the world before insisting on returning to the original version. --Shuki (talk) 22:28, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- More: check this [1] for a Israeli government department (the one in charge of land) stating that Yad B. is a communal settlement. W/R to real estate, there's very little reason to list in an article all the construction companies, or other commercial establishments, operating in the village. If it was relevant, would anyone care if there was a Burger King? Please read the Hebrew WP article. Hi Shuki, let me address the various points you make: 1. you are certainly correct that it is named after Binyamin Mintz but I thought lit. is the literal translation 2. Format/ content - agree on the format and thanks for making it look more presentable. Re the content, I actually used the Neve Daniel entry as a guideline which talks about the community and local facilities. Will remove the bit relating to transportation. Local facilities are mentioned on many other 'local' pages even for much larger cities, e.g. rishon lezion mentions its amphitheatres, dance clubs, etc
3. I see your point about the link to yishuv kehillati- in that case the definition under Communal Settlement would appear to be incorrect as there is no requirement to join any cooperative to live in YB. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cestor (talk • contribs) 11:20, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- In the Rishon article, listing local facilities is fine since they are more or less significant sites. I think that listing regular facilites 'might' be tolerated on articles of small localities, but less so on a larger village or town where commercial services and public facilities is common and insignificant. --Shuki (talk) 18:11, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
1. There is not much difference between neve daniel and yad binyamin in size. Again, Hashmonaim also has information on community facilities. The Commercial services and public facilities listed are not common in YB - there is exactly one of each and this may be important for people to know if they want more information about the place.
2. Again, why the removal of every community except gush katif? This gives a completely inaccurate view. Also as a point of fact they do not live in 'a compound'. Most of them live in pre-fabricated houses spread out throughout the yishuv.
3. see my comment above re the literal meaning of YB.
4. I edited the Transport section to remove the redundant information and this section, like others has been deleted wholesale.
I am not insisting on returning to the original article but requesting advice so that if there are specific points, they can be edited /corrected/ improved on rather than wholesale deletion. thanks

- 1 - It's an enclyclopedia. If one article is poor, the others should not replicate. WP tolerates significant/notable information, not the list of all clients in a strip-mall.
- 2 The Gush Katif community is quite significant. The others, unless you can bring a news clip or other reference, no matter how special, are not. If this information is important, than I suggest creating a seperate village website.
- 3 'Yad' has two literal meanings - hand and memorial.
