Cleanup

Could do with taking a look at the formatting (consistant headings, etc.), and also look into linking form here a little more? (I expect there's an article on Ofsted), etc Ratarsed 19:53, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

School Name

I went to Banbury School (then Banbury Grammar School) from 1947 until 1953 and it was always a mixed school. It was never called Stanbridge Hall during my time there. My sister also went there when it was Banbury County School.Oyster24 (talk) 07:17, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Banbury Academy → Wykham Park Academy – The name of the school has now been changed from Banbury Academy to Wykham Park Academy. Mariahxpand (talk) 15:28, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

• Basically support: the sources I have say that the move will happen in September (I note that the website still uses the old name), but that's only a few days away, and that the new name will "Wykham Park Academy Banbury", but that seems like a minor point to me. • Obviously we should move the article, but since the change of name is due to take place in September I see no reason not to wait the few days until that happens. In the meanwhile I have created redirects from both of the suggested new titles, so that anyone searching for information under the new name will find the article. 'New' building program

I'm not sure this can still be described as 'new' as much of the work seems to have been completed in 2009.

A few other points based on my experience as a pupil at the then Banbury School in the 1970's:

1. Back then, there were indeed 3 'halls' on the site for Years 7-11:

• Stanbridge Hall (the former grammar school)
• Broughton Hall (a former girls school)
• Wykham Hall (a former boys school)

and then there was the Upper School, a collection of newer buildings (early 1960's perhaps?) that sat roughly at the centre of the site, for Years 12-13.

There was extensive use of shared facilities across the site - the woodwork and metalwork shops were attached to Wykham Hall, the home economics kitchen was in Broughton Hall, the language lab was in the Upper School, the athletics field was behind Stanbridge Hall, while the gymnasium and tennis courts were next to Broughton Hall.

2. The 'new' V-shaped building, may have been built to 'replace' Stanbridge Hall (and named after it?), but is actually far closer to the site of the demolished Wykham Hall, while the old Stanbridge Hall has been redeveloped and is now the site of an elder care facility.

3. Thankfully, the school has retained almost all of the extensive grounds/playing fields that I recall from my time there.

However, I'm not sure where I can find reliable sources for my recollections.
