Presenting D2 results in team page rankings tables edit

Posing the question here for a central discussion location that may be referred to when updating team pages. Traditionally, on team pages in the rankings tables, the Playoffs column simply lists their tournament finish, and teams that competed at WFTDA Championships in the D2 bracket get an additional entry there for that additional result. With the 2017 Division 2 Playoffs and Championships being combined into a single event, I'm looking for consensus on how to enter this for consistent usage. The options are basically as follows:

  • put result in the Playoffs column, even for teams that did not reach the final four, and enter N/A in the Championship column
  • put result in the Championship column, and enter N/A in the Playoffs column
  • enter the same result in both columns

For any of the above options, I suggest adding an asterisk and a legend under the table noting that the Playoffs and Championship were combined in a single event this year (and for any future years it repeats). It remains to be seen whether or not this format will be repeated in future years, and I don't think we want to have to go through ALL the team pages and create a new format for rankings tables, especially if this may be a one-off change. From seeing how people within the public WFTDA community are talking, there are various rumors about the stability of the format change, so keeping the rankings tables consistent seems the path of least resistance. My personal preference for the method is the first option listed above, but welcome feedback from other editors. Echoedmyron (talk) 15:07, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Continental Cups edit

So, the WFTDA announced this today: [1], effectively replacing Division 2 with a Cup System, that is a combination of regional and ranking placement, and also reducing Division 1 further to the top 28 teams. I will be offline for the next couple of weeks but thought I would raise options for discussion, and I'm honestly not sure how we may want to handle the current D2 article and introduce the Cups System - either with a new article or some other way - nor how to handle things like the templates for the Divisions and future Cups etc. Echoedmyron (talk) 23:01, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
