Album title edit

The correct album title is "At The Speed of Sound". This can be confirmed in Paul McCartney's website (https://www.paulmccartney.com/albums/at-the-speed-of-sound-2014-remaster).

Although since its release it was always refered to as "Wings at the Speed of Sound", just like the "The Beatles" album was always refered to as the "White Album", nevertheless it doesn't make it official.

Paul McCartney's Archive Collection, which re released the album in a varity of formats in 2014, refers to the album as "At The Speed of Sound", and also does the different streaming services. Insisting on calling it "Wings at the Speed of Sound" would be a mistake, even though a common one.

Maybe the image of the album cover in the infobox provides a clue. And for that type of title change you'd have to prove your replacement is the common name, which it isn't. Good faith edit though. Randy Kryn 18:22, 9 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
I am well aware of the album cover, as you may know "Wings" is also the name of the band so the fact that is there in the cover is not evidence that that's the album title. And again I'm aware that it is not the common name by which the album it is recognized (just as with the "White Album" Beatles' album mentioned above, for example), but nevertheless that's the title.

The actual title of the album is Wings at the Speed of Sound, look up the copyright. Also, here is the link to Paul McCartney's official website showing the official title: https://www.paulmccartney.com/albums/wings-at-the-speed-of-sound. Furthermore, there is no place Wings performed at called The Speed of Sound.

This is just a case of the group name being incorporated into the album title such as Cheap Trick at Budokan which seems to cause confusion. The album has always been Wings at the Speed of Sound. That's how it appears on the US copyright, that's how it's listed by RIAA, that's how it appeared on the US and UK charts. I don't think it was even commonly known as At the Speed of Sound although you may find instances of that usage. An encyclopedia should use precise and correct language and not help perpetuate misconceptions or suggest there is ambiguity where none exists. Piriczki (talk) 21:01, 9 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Discographer: the link you used there now shows the album title as At the Speed of Sound, no Wings in the title. Does this mean that’s the official title? This is a bit of an annoying case, I will say. Lol Elephantranges (talk) 01:19, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

@User talk:Elephantranges: getting consensus done for this is a way to decide which title should be used. So, if the article should (or should not) be moved, it would have been done so by those from within the community who participate in this. It doesn't matter to me which way it goes, just as long as consensus is reached and supported in the end. Best, --Discographer (talk) 02:12, 8 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
