Platforms edit

Comment: I think there are two platforms and two lines at this terminus. -- Wyrdlight 19:50, 7 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

There are definately only two platforms in the current station. If my memory serves me right, there was once a third platform and track, but this was lost when the relatively recent office block that flanks the station on the river side was built. I will amend the article to correct the number of platforms now, but I'm not sure enough of the facts on the third platform to add this. Can anybody confirm this, or better still provide a cite?. -- Chris j wood 12:08, 15 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
There was certainly a third platform, plus a goods yard (which you mention) and a turntable, whose well is buried under the car park. (I am more familiar with the GWR station, and the few photos that I have, in books, have not been able to help.)

Arches in the Datchet Road wall edit

I'm sure that I have read somewhere that the row of arches in the wall between platform 1 and Datchet Road were built to allow Queen Victoria's military escort to ride onto the platform. But I cannot now find a citable source for this. Can anybody help?. -- Chris j wood 10:28, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

This was my understanding too, although it is by word-of-mouth rather than by reading. I presume you don't have the appropriate 'branch line' book for the line? EdJogg 13:14, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
'fraid not. I think I have borrowed or browsed a copy at some time, which may well be where my memory comes from. -- Chris j wood 14:43, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Through to Central edit

Looking at some past road atlases showed that at a UK scale there was a connection by rail between this station and W&E Central. Was this ever the case? Simply south (talk) 21:47, 28 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
