I have no idea why, but I find Whitehouse's rise and fall fascinating. I've realized that there are enough reliable sources for what could be a Good Article. Would anyone be willing to work with me on a rewrite? Andrew327 23:34, 2 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

What I've read paints a more mixed picture. He is at least partially responsible for the failure of the first trans-Atlantic cable, but there were other factors as well, and not many people in the world at that point actually understood the physics behind telegraphy.
