RE: Merge request

edit

Without a doubt the Uigur Kaganate page should be merged with this one. That page is simply a less in-depth version of this one, with different spelling. That does not warrant a separate page. Rcduggan (talk) 12:10, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge with Culture of Uyghur Khanate

edit

some duplicated content and not enough to warrant it's own article Flat Out let's discuss it 08:56, 5 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oppose: Uyghur Culture is a broad topic. I agree that the article is too short and it needs to be developed. But instead of merging we can use incomplete or expand tags. Besides Uyghur Khaganate is mainly on the first period of Uyghur history (up to 848) and Uyghur Culture refers to later periods as well.Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 14:55, 7 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oppose: The article is too short, and poorly written, but expansion is the proper course, not merger. --DThomsen8 (talk) 15:49, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Map

edit

File:3-й Уйгурский каганат.png (obviously wrong map that uploaded by the Kazakh editor), [1]. Map of Lev Gumilev - 1st half of the VIII century: [2] - It includes Mongolia, Inner Mongolia, northern Xinjiang and northern Gansu.

Readded File:East-Hem 800ad.jpg and it almost resemble map of Lev Gumilev's book so it may be correct map. Academic sources say the khaganate was 3,000,000 km2 in size. (Jonathan M. Adams, Thomas D. Hall and Peter Turchin (2006). "East-West Orientation of Historical Empires". Journal of World-Systems Research (University of Connecticut). 12 (no. 2): 219–229.; Rein Taagepera (September 1997). "Expansion and Contraction Patterns of Large Polities: Context for Russia". International Studies Quarterly 41 (3): 475–504.) See List of largest empires. Don' add any fantasy map like File:Uyghur Khaganate.png and File:Uyghur khaganat larger expansion.png.

The map is heavily distorted - about 1.5 times. Please, increase it about 1.5 times in the vertical direction to make the shapes of the geographic objects on it (lakes, etc.) seem realistic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:7D0:83BF:6580:C0EF:B90F:4909:5BC9 (talk) 23:35, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Uyghur Khaganate fell in the 840s

edit

World historians consider that the Uyghur Khaganate fell in the 840s and all of Uyghurs migrated to Xinjiang. Britannica.com: [3]: "In 840 another Turkic people, the Kyrgyz, put an abrupt end to Uighur rule in Mongolia". Gecary (talk) 12:20, 25 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
