License tagging for Image:Set 1 Em Pics July 7 thru August 22 040.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Set 1 Em Pics July 7 thru August 22 040.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:09, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from articles as it is considered vandalism. You may place {{hangon}} on the page and make your case on the article's talk page if you oppose an article's speedy deletion. Thanks. Fabricationary 14:20, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

R.C. Duggan edit

Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article R.C. Duggan may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. -- Francs2000 15:28, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Wildthing61476 02:07, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Russian flag 1697.png edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Russian flag 1697.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 00:21, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Source for flag? edit

I'd like to reiterate the question from Image talk:Ilkhanate flag.png here. What is the source for this flag? What documentation do you have? --Latebird (talk) 18:35, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I believe I have cleared this up on the image's talk page, tell me if that is not enough confirmation though.
Cool, thanks! Btw: Are you Tomislav Todorovic? If you're not, then the {{PD-Self}} tag would be incorrect, and needs to be replaced with a {{PD-author}}. --Latebird (talk) 18:49, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I meant to do that other tag, my bad.. I'll go fix it now.Rcduggan (talk) 18:55, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
actually, {{PD-flag-100}} might be even more appropriate. --Latebird (talk) 18:54, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
PS: Please make it a habit to sign your talk contributions with --~~~~. --Latebird (talk) 18:54, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
okay, I'll re-re-fix it. Rcduggan (talk) 18:55, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Comitopuli dynasty edit

Why insist on this form?

The word derives only from Byzantine Greek, and the second vowel is an η. The rest of the word is Latinized; the only reason for the unique use of i is the interaction produced by transliterating first into Cyrillic and thence into the Roman alphabet. The standard authorities use e, from Ostrogorsky to the Oxford Dictionary of Byzantium. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 18:52, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I merely changed it because you created it as a "soft" re-direct instead of one that goes directly to the new page, and I think it would be better to keep it the way it is until the re-direct is working properly.Rcduggan (talk) 19:59, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Fine, I'll move straight; although I'm not sure what you mean by "soft redirect". I didn't see any double redirects, and the correct reaction to one would be to fix it. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:29, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see I missed some; thanks. But do remember, there's a bot that fixes double redirects now. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:36, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Balts map edit

Hello, thank you for pointing out the mistake in the map. I have changed the original version in SVG to reflect that Curonians were west Balts. Since the original is fixed, I don't think we need Image:Curonians fixed.png and Image:Baltic tribes c 1200 fixed.png as they are duplicates. Do you mind if I delete them? Thanks, Renata (talk) 16:41, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, it's fine if you delete them, I just didn't know how to make an SVG file. Go ahead and remove te duplicates.

East-Hem_1025ad.jpg edit

Hi Rcduggan. Thank you for your note on the 1025 AD map. The map shows Fars and Kerman, it just doesn't list them as Buyids or Kakuyids. I believe it was the Buyids in control of both at this time. My sources are a few maps of Mahmud's Ghaznavid Sultanate and neighbors. The borders are based on maps like this one [1]. I haven't been able to find any other real evidence of a "Mukran" or a "Kusdar" except in the maps I used as sources. If you have any better information, please let me know and I'll fix the maps! Dagestan edit

Hi. I saw you changed Eurasian Avars to Caucasian Avars in the Dagestan article. While this seems to be logical from the topic, I think, Eurasian Avars might indeed be the correct thing — the next sentence mentions them as being a possible instrument for a Christianisation of some parts of Dagestan. The Caucasian Avars have never been Christians, as far as I know. Also, the Huns are mentioned in the same sentence, and they might be closely related to the Eurasian Avars. Are you absolutely sure, the Eurasian Avars were meant in the text? It seems less logical to me. — N-true (talk) 21:26, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Styalsitic borders edit

Hello, I was curious as to why you removed the styalistic border around Kingdom of Gwynedd?♦Drachenfyre♦·Talk 19:09, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mainly because they are only on that one page, I have never seen a border used anywhere else. Other nations have the former country infobox but not the border, so it is unnecessary for only one former country to have it. Rcduggan (talk) 19:11, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I understand, no worries. I am placing styalistic borders around the info boxes around Gwynedd, Deheubarth, Powys, and Principality of Wales. One is in place on the Wales page. There is no wiki guideline which precludes this. It is a styalistic approach. What do you think otherwise? I plan on changing the color though.♦Drachenfyre♦·Talk 19:15, 7 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Three-revert rule edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Göktürks. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Stifle (talk) 19:17, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Just a note as well about the message you posted on User talk:195.174.21.72 - sources don't have to be in English to be reliable and acceptable on Wikipedia. A translation is of course useful but not everything notable will have been written about in English. Stifle (talk) 19:18, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
You are right about my violation of the 3RR, I apologize. How do we resolve that?
And about the source, I was merely saying it was unreliable because it did not appear to be talking about the flag in question, but of course it could have because I do not know Turkish. I realize that it still could have been a credible source. Rcduggan (talk) 19:22, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
There's nothing to do, just letting you know about the rule for future reference. Thanks for the reply. Stifle (talk) 20:25, 14 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

About flag of Göktürks edit

Website of Presidency of Republic of Turkey is a serious source. If you see the main page, you will see seriousness. The flag is in a lot of sources in Turkish, but the sources aren't English. Please be peaceful and coolheaded. Thanks... --Dsmurat (talk) 11:34, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I was just checking around for sources for the Gokturk flag, and it appears to be considered reliable, at least according to these sources. Also, see here for discussion why the last deletion failed (also here, but you knew that already). Fléêťflämẽ U-T-C 16:34, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also see here, here, and here. Fléêťflämẽ U-T-C 16:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've replied at my talk page. Fléêťflämẽ U-T-C 20:51, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
The image may be removed from the article and not deleted; they're two different debates here. You do not have to delete the image to remove it from the article. I just noticed that it had been up for deletion before because of much the same grounds as you're debating, and the result was keep because of the information left on the image talk page--I believe I left you all the links (or see here). Also, you did not nominate for deletion correctly. Click "show" on the deletion template to see the extra steps. Fléêťflämẽ U-T-C 11:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, you have two options:

  1. You can list the image for deletion and try to keep a handle on two debates at once, or
  2. You can unlist it and try to get it off the article first, then worry about deletion.

It's really up to you; I would advise doing one thing at a time, but it's your call. Fléêťflämẽ U-T-C 11:47, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ashoka the Great edit

I noticed some of the same problems you have on Ashoka the Great. I have absolutely no knowledge on the subject, so all my edits tonight are focused towards grammatical and punctuation changes. The information added by Chakrashok is great, but as you noted rather low in English quality. I've put a note on his talk page as well. David Souther (talk) 04:27, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
