I see no proof that Google proposed it aside from "commsday.com". Compared to Google's own press release [1] it seems unreliable. From the release:
A consortium of six international companies announced they have executed agreements to build a high–bandwidth subsea fiber optic cable linking the United States and Japan.
Not just Google then, nor does it say Google proposed it. Does anyone agree? 194.81.36.61 (talk) 13:23, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
