What should be included in the table

Age

If the age must be in the table, then it should be listed as year of birth and not as a number of years to prevent this problem. However, I see no reason to include age at all, and propose that this column be removed. Does anyone have a reason for listing the ages here in this table for comparison? Function of offices

Right now each cabinet member is listed along with his office, and there are wikilinks associated with each office. It is enough to allow users to click on the name of the office to read about it. Blue Rasberry 19:41, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

SI No

Right now the first column is some kind of numbering system called the SI No. What is this? Is this an official ranking system, or just something left over from a table template? I propose that it be removed if it has no significance. Blue Rasberry 19:45, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Education

Right now the table includes a note about the education of each council member. This seems unnecessary to me because I know of no rule that says that proof of formal education is required to be a council member for the Indian government and also I do not think this information is necessary for understanding each member's position. I propose to move all information about education to each member's personal Wikipedia article. Any objections? Blue Rasberry 19:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Comparison of formats of tables

Please compare Wikipedia articles for national cabinets with me.

Here is the category page for national cabinets. Here is an example from the table for the United States Cabinet, which I feel is an excellent presentation.

If it were possible, I would like the page for India's cabinet to resemble the format for the page of America's cabinet. If I cannot find enough pictures to fill things in, then at least I would like the section headings and type of text information to match. Possibly also the constituency listings and house affiliations should stay also, because if I understand correctly, most members of the Indian cabinet simultaneously server as MPs. Title of this article

What is the correct name for this group of people? The current name of the article is "Union Council of Ministers of India". This group includes these three subgroups: Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and Ministers of State. Here are some websites which call this group the "Council of Ministers":

• India.gov.in
• Cabinet Secretariat of India
• various news sources Hindustan Times Groundreport Oneindia.in some other site

Here is a source calling it the "Union Council of Ministers" The Pioneer (Indian newspaper). Probably there are other sources, but this seems to be a less-used name.

Especially because of the Indian government's use of the name "Council of Ministers" in two prominent places where they are naming things for the general public, I propose changing the name of this article to "Council of Ministers (India)" and having the other name redirect to this. User:Neelix just changed the name of the article from "'Union Council of Ministers of India' to 'Cabinet of India' (To be consistent with other articles about national cabinets.)" It is not obvious to me why this article should be named by the most obvious English-word description for what its subject is, when in fact the article's subject has a formal name which is definitely not "Cabinet of India". According to Wikipedia's policy on article titles, "Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's 'official' name as an article title; it instead uses the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources." A Google Books search reveals that "Cabinet of India" is by far the more common name in English-language reliable sources; "Cabinet of India" receives 270 hits while "Union Council of Ministers of India" receives only 6. Also, "Cabinet of India" is far more consistent with the titles of other articles about national cabinets. For these reasons, I moved the article to the present title. Article is outdated.

External affairs minister SM Krishna had resigned on Friday. Cabinet ministers Ambika Soni, Mukul Wasnik and SK Sahai, Ministers of state Mahadev Khandela (tribal affairs), Agatha Sangma (rural development) and Vincent Pala (water resources and minority affairs) also quit on Saturday. So the information provided here is incorrect and needs an update. Also it would be great if someone can pur "recent events" header. Someone put text on the page currently redirected to from CCEA, Council for the Curriculum, Examinations & Assessment regarding the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs. Does this committee need an article - a quick Google suggests it might be able to establish material to justify a page - could someone confirm/clarify? Examples include:

• Pseudo-secularism, previously Pseudo-secularism (India)

Sorry, my mistake. My request should have only included the replacement of {{Cabinet table end|hiderefcol=y}} with {{Cabinet table end}} (ie. the second bullet point). Hide "Left office" column from all the tables

All the tables in section Union Council of Ministers#Current Union Council of Ministers have a column "Life office". All the values for this column are same i.e. "Incumbent".

Can we remove this column as the values are redundant, especially given the title of the section "Current Union Council of Ministers". If the list is of CURRENT ministers, they will all be incumbent by default. Waonderer (talk) 15:52, 18 February 2024 (UTC)

Currently, the council is headed by prime minister Narendra Modi and consists of 29 members, including the prime minister.

This is incorrect. The correct information is: After the reshuffling, the Council of Ministers comprises the PM and 78 ministers. In the 2024 Council of Ministers, there are 29 Cabinet Ministers, 3 Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 47 Ministers of State.

What has been mentioned in the article is 'Cabinet' rank ministers which are 29 but in reality the Council of Ministers is 79. Riteshwari (talk) 22:03, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

MoS (independent charge) = 3

MoS = 44
