Current name

edit

I'm unclear as to whether the the current name is "San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum" or "USS Midway Museum". I've found websites that use one name or the other, and the official museum opage uses "USS Midway Museum" exclusively. However, I've not found any source, much less a reliable one, that gives the date of the name change, or even that it happened. if "USS Midway Museum" is the current official name, the article needs to be moved, but not before we can confirm the mname change from a reliable source. Thanks. - BilCat (talk)

It's pretty clear from all current first and third party literature that the name of the museum has been USS Midway Museum for quite a while. I've put in for this move to be done since the article and all links to it also utilize the correct name. Not sure why it wasn't moved previously. History section

It is stated:

Under the terms agreed to in receiving space to dock the ship, a portion of the ship's bow is accessible free of charge to allow all visitors to enjoy views of the San Diego harbor and skyline without paying admission, ...

This was a part of the original agreement, as discussed at the final Coastal Commission hearing, prior to approval of the museum. However, I don't think this ever happened. I was a visitor on opening day, and have visited many times since, and have never seen the flight deck partitioned off as shown at the Coastal Commission hearing.

I suggest that this be removed.

"She" vs. "it"

edit

The article is inconsistent whether to refer to the ship as "she" or "it". It may be proper to refer to the museum as "it", but I think at least the portions detailing the history of the ship should say "she". Comments? --MelanieN (talk) 18:51, 8 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
