Who the heck are "JJ Morley and Lucien Barrett"?

The entry for the first game in 2002 says it was based on "based on the spies, JJ Morley and Lucien Barrett". This is literally the only reference to these individuals, making me suspect that this is vandalism. Accordingly, I have removed this reference. Ridiculous edits

I don't know who thought it would be a great idea to remove links to the individual games or to delete my map without posting any reason, but I just want it to be known that I've reinserted those. nitpicks

"The series of video games are third-person stealth shooters developed and published by Ubisoft and are a vital part of a large wave of stealth-based third-person video games that became popular in the late 1990s." How can a game that came out in 2002 be part of wave of games from the late 1990s? Also, there was basically Metal Gear Solid and Thief at this point, the so-called wave didn't happen until a rash of games sprung up after Splinter Cell's success.

Merging character articles into main article

I think we should merge the character articles into the main Splinter Cell article, or (in the case of characters like Sadano or Nikoladze) at least into the articles for the individual games in which they appear.

These character articles are rather short, and it's unlikely there's going to be much that can be added to them (Many of these guys are dead, for starters). Joylock 18:00, 09 November 2005 (UTC)

Don't put Shetland on the main page, he was only the main enemy in SCCT. Put Nicoladze on the 1st game Soth and Suhadi on the 2nd and Shetland for the 3rd. Why Nedich? He was hardly major at all and it seems odd to list him as the major villan.

Why not just a page for SC (support) characters? Shetland's info on his own page really doesn't seem to warrant the space it takes up, and I think it would look better with other similar blurbs. TotalTommyTerror 19:25, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

There is an automatic link from Shadownet to this page, but Shadownet is never mentioned in the whole article?! I was actually looking to get more information on Shadownet that is mentioned all over the TV series Nikita. Apparently someone already removed this because I can't find a reference to it anywhere in the page. Cool beans either way as if it wasn't really sourced well the comparison between a Splinter Cell and a "cool trooper" is more speculation that *doesn't* need to be in Wikipedia! Connection between GR2 and SC

Somebody posted a storyline connection between the PS2 version and SC:CT. Can anyone confrim this? ~Unicyclopedia

The sinking of the USS Clarence Walsh by a North Korean missile is a key point to both stories. Fisher and the Ghosts go in seperately to confirm if it was done. The universe is the same with the same time frame and both have heavy use of the XM8 Rifle.147.144.1.251 22:06, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

There is no XM8 in Splinter Cell. However, it's not mentioned in the article. So, no big deal.

Fisher's animations

I don't recall it being stated anywhere that ALL of Sam Fisher's moves were hand-animated. Only moves such as the split jumps and others were hand-animated, due to the fact that certain actions are quite difficult to be done by motion actors. BishopTutu 05:28, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

What sets Splinter Cell apart

"What truly sets Splinter Cell apart from other games of its kind are its innovative multiplayer modes"-This is an opinion. I think what sets it apart is how the game strictly forces you to stick to stealth. Castle Wolfenstein

The "originators of the genre" bit mentions Metal Gear and Thief, however isn't Castle Wolfenstein in fact the first stealth game?

I'm a big Metal Gear fan and it was only recently that I found about Castle Wolfenstein. I was amazed. It predates Metal Gear and many of the features that we see in Metal Gear were actually first seen in Castle Wolfenstein.

Therefore, I reckon Castle Wolfenstein should be named as the originator of stealth gameplay as it predated the Metal Gear of 1987.

Or, the sentence could be changed to show that MGS and Thief popularised the stealth genre rather than originated it.

The info in the lead and the see also stuff at the top of the article makes the distinction enough. We have Splinter, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (novel). I think that it works as it is now. If they go to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell looking for the series, they can easily go to the correct page, and vice versa. There's no need to change things. Proposed move back to Splinter Cell

After there was consensus not to move the page, User:Sam Blacketer moved the page citing it as non-controversial. I think the page should be moved back to its former location, as the current title is bulky. Not to mention that the more frequently used title for the series as a whole is simply, "Splinter Cell". Graphics

The graphics section seems useless and uninformative to me. Also, it's plainly ridiculously inaccurate. 1) Conviction doesn't use UE3 (check it's page; it uses LEAD). 2) Modern Warfare 3 doesn't either! I would like to propose that when these pages are created for games, especially PC games, the author should include both the minimum, and the recommended PC hardware and OS profiles. Very little is more informative to a PC gamer. I nearly bought a game today that will not run on my computer because I have not upgraded to a dual core processor yet. I assumed that because it was in the bargain bin that it would run on older single core PCs. I know my PC's gaming days are nearing an end and will soon be passed down to the wife or kids, but for a short while it will have to do. Splinter Cell 6

I couldn't find a reliable source for the name "Retribution", so I self-reverted. The "announcement for 2012 lineup" gets quoted on at least one other site that is fairly reliable (German magazine Gamestar), but nothing is to be found on the Ubisoft page.
