Thomas Oates (Governor)Thomas Oates (colonial administrator)WP:NCDAB / WP:NCPDAB. The current title seems overly role-specific. — BarrelProof (talk) 13:47, 13 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Comment: I've been trying to figure this out, but there has to be a better word than "colonial" to describe politicians, given that the term not representing the Thirteen Colonies could be surprising for some (though this subject was born well after the existence of the Thirteen Colonies), given that per Colonial, associating the term "colonial" with anything in particular could potentially have systemic bias. I was just following the characterization used in the first sentence. Using "politician" doesn't seem right, since he was appointed rather than elected. Perhaps Thomas Oates (government official) or Thomas Oates (territorial administrator)? Even just lowercase "governor" would be an improvement. — BarrelProof (talk) 20:55, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
