Inside Joke edit

The line, "Old Armachians tend to be a discreet bunch, only outing themselves when totally necessary." serves no purpose in this article. Wikipedia relies on citations and relevant information in its articles; as such this line is irrelevant and indeed may confuse others unfamiliar with the Old Armachians or the school. I suggest it is deleted. Also, regarding the line, "In 2004/2005, Emma Stewart became the youngest ever full Irish International whilst still a pupil at the school; as of February 2006 she is in her final year at the school, having achieved 4 A grades in her AS Levels" should be edited. The sports accolades are relevant to the section but listing a pupil's grades (especially at AS level) has very little relevance within the article. I propose the editing of this line. I'm open to arguments to the contrary but as such if none are offerred the article shall be edited.

The line about the OAs was based on my experience that, for whatever reason & compared to some other schools OAs tend not to talk about it until uts relevant or topical. As is common with the Royal School, this article focuses very heavily on the sporting achievements and past history of the school with little reference to current education issues such as recent results, latest Inspection and matters such as that. Many who would visit this page would be interested in the educational achievements and teaching styles without focusing solely on the sport and former pupils. Hate to criticize but it's a school, not a sports club. Its important to mention sports etc. but a bit of variation would help. Maybe a mention of the current headmaster / vice-principals, the 05/06 GCSE/A Levels results and the standings in the league tables- just to vary it a bit. I'll do it myself but maybe some of the more informed on these details would care to contribute. Thanks c-bro 20:31, 25 August 2006 (UTC)c-broReply

I have removed the word "good" from the following sentence: "The good doctor was in the habit of warming himself by this fire of an evening, and was blown across the room by the resultant explosion." The use of “good” in this context is jocular and deliberately archaic. Although it sounds charming and genteel, it’s not appropriate for Wikipedia. As much as Wikipedia entertains us, we should always keep in mind that Wikipedia is reference material first and foremost and such should be as clear and as literal as is possible. Ah yes, I agree. I think you'll find that's common practice surrounding articles and practices of the Royal School - it makes a great story but lacking substance nonetheless.
