Title edit

Is it really referred to as "The Pilot" and not simply "pilot"? Most shows, which do not give an actual title for the first episode, simply go with "pilot". I find it odd that this is actually called "The Pilot", but it could be. I just want to make sure someone wasn't putting in an article by mistake. Is this how it is referred to on the DVD box set? If not, then it needs to be simply "Pilot (Friends)". Speaking of, unless there is some other article that is associated with the Friends series using the name "Pilot", then "episode" needs to be dropped from the title per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (television)#Episode articles.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, Sangster, Stallings, Wild and the DVDs all have it listed as "the". As for the "episode", it used to be correctly titled but someone moved it and I couldn't move it back over the redirect. Brad 08:40, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
So it's printed on the box pamphlet (or whatever Friends uses to list episode titles on paper) as "The Pilot", instead of saying something like "the pilot"? Ok. Anyway, I put in a speedy deletion request for that other page, and also asked the deleting admin to go ahead and move this page to that name when he/she does delete. Hopefully that will take place.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 11:55, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed move edit

I am proposing this move based on the fact that this episode apparently is no longer referred to simply as "The Pilot". IMDb lists it as "The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate", and the DVD box set, which can be regarded as offical, has the same title (see Friends Season 1 listing at Amazon.com). Vidor (talk) 15:55, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Comment. What IMDb says is irrelevant, so that reasoning can be ignored. As for the DVD, since it's released by Warner Home Entertainment, I agree it can be considered official. However, what is the DVD (or any home release for that matter)? The first VHS release I had referred to it as "The Pilot (aka The One Where it All Began)" on the back cover (the same as the first issued DVD), and my 15th anniversary DVD just calls it "The Pilot"; so "The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate" doesn't appear anywhere on the DVD I have. I don't understand the statement that what the IMDb says is irrelevant and I don't particularly appreciate someone saying what I write can be ignored. But that unnecesary rudeness aside...the Amazon listing calls it "The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate" on the On Demand listing, BUT the Warner Brothers listing still calls it "Pilot". So on that basis I'm going to remove the template requesting a move. Vidor (talk) 18:22, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Since IMDb is user edited, like Wikipedia itself, we don't usually use it as a source for anything. I'm sure that Bradley wasn't trying to be rude; rather, he was explaining that IMDb is irrelevant. Please don't take it personally because I'm pretty sure he was just trying to be friendly. ;) Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 08:48, 7 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Total running time? edit

The article states: "Several deleted scenes were restored to the episode, bringing its total running time to 37 minutes, for a one-hour timeslot.

As far as I know, this is wrong. I have the uncut episode here. It totals at 29:37. Therefore the time slot can be 45min. Here: http://uncutfriendsepisodes.tripod.com/season1/101uncut.htm you can also read the uncut script of the pilot. The blue parts were initially cut out. All blue parts are included in the 29:37 uncut episode. Hence, the the pilot is not 37min long, even in its uncut version. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to see a 37min friends pilot, but I think, there simply aint one. :D I'll just correct this in the main article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Duff-Man1991 (talkcontribs) 20:49, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Plot edit

Anyone else feel that the plot section is way too detailed? Kevinbrogers (talk) 05:38, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Only everyone with any understanding of article layout. The summary is too long for any article, and certainly for one that is listed as a Good Article. It seems someone came along after the article was promoted to GA, when the summary was just the right length, and replaced it with their own detailed description of every single scene (which is not, by definition, a summary). I replaced it with the version from when it passed as a GA. Lampman (talk) 22:35, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
