Too long edit

This article suffers from being too long, filled with trivia and not encyclopaedic enough. Also lacks short discography. Design 01:46, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. This is far too long.
Disagree. It is not 'too long', it could do with a "wikifying" however. It is nonsense to say that an article about a subject contains "too much" information. To the writer of the above comment, you can sign your post by typing four tildes (~). Aristeaus 11:27, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. Wall of text. Plus it lacks references, I'd like to see some citations for it, it looks either like original research or it's been lifted wholesale from elsewhere. Graham (talk) 12:58, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Still valuable edit

I agree that it is a bit long but it is still a valuable account of an important Australian band and era. Gavin Moodie 10:47, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Libertines "Last Post On The Bugle" edit

This song blatantly plagiarises "War or Hands of Time", even using the first two lines of the lyrics. They ought to sue. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.102.79.81 (talk) 10:49, 28 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed major edits edit

Pursuant to above comments re: lack of references and being too long, I intend making some major edits and get the article up to B-class (at least) over the next week or so. First major edit is due later today.shaidar cuebiyar ( talk | contribs ) 04:24, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

2nd major edit is up, the process is taking longer than I expected. Third major edit probably in three-four days.shaidar cuebiyar ( talk | contribs ) 00:09, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
4th major edit has just been completed, I believe its now up to B-class. I'm taking a rest from this article to allow other editors to apply further copyediting and supply references for any remaining contentious claims.shaidar cuebiyar ( talk | contribs ) 02:09, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Masters Apprentices edit

Recently, User:E-Kartoffel applied a redirect to The Masters Apprentices with an edit summary claiming the first album shows The Master's Apprentices. I believe this redirect should be reverted. I have requested this at this user's talkpage and include my discussion here:

Despite the first album's cover, the band was The Masters Apprentices. Other album/single covers show some with and some without the apostrophe. The article states that they deliberately omitted the apostrophe, and that they were named by founder Mick Bower as being apprentices to the masters of the blues with a selection of masters named (see Adelaide years section). Hence grammatically that should be The Masters' Apprentices not The Master's Apprentices. Both Ed Nimmervoll at Howlspace (see here) and Duncan Kimball at Milesago (see ref #2) use no apostrophe. Ian McFarlane in his Encyclopedia of Australian Rock & Pop (see ref #1) however does use the apostrophe. Nevertheless Jim Keays, another founding member, does not use the apostrophe either for his 1999 book title nor for his official website. APRA lists song performers as Masters Apprentices (e.g. "Undecided"). Finally when ARIA inducted the band into its Hall of Fame in 1998 they inducted The Masters Apprentices not The Master's Apprentices. The preponderance of other references in the article use no apostrophe, hence with no consensus for your changes could you please revert them to The Masters Apprentices. Further discussion should be held here.shaidar cuebiyar ( talk | contribs ) 06:17, 23 November 2009 (UTC) Fixed pipes.shaidar cuebiyar ( talk | contribs ) 20:42, 23 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

First single, "Undecided", has its label as by The Masters Apprentices, see here. It was released in November 1966 by Astor, the first album did not appear until the following June.shaidar cuebiyar ( talk | contribs ) 22:21, 23 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
