Claim as oldest continuously operating theater in the US
editThe Majestic Bay claims to the the oldest continuously operating movie theater in the US, opening in 1914. Historylink.org says the the date is 1915. There are at least two competing claims. The Allred Theater in Pryor, Oklahoma, opened in 1917, and the Elks Theatre in Middletown Pennsylvania, from 1911. The question seems to rest on the definition of "continuously operating", since all of these were closed for some period for renovations, but whether that closure was days or months or years in each case is unclear, and by whose standards that qualifies as "continuously" is unstated. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 15:22, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
