Talk:The Last Children of Tokyo

Title of the Book edit

The article has three (maybe four, don't know how to count Kentoshi) titles for this book: The Last Children..., Kentoshi, The Emissary and 献灯使. Plopping that last bit into Google Translate gets Lantern Messenger. (Entering Kentoshi gets nothing that makes sense, and offers to translate from Chinese.)

Can someone comment on these titles? I found the book entirely bewildering. I'm sure translation was a challenge. The text seems filled with word play (just one of the difficulties).

Well, a tiny bit of sense: plugging 献灯使 into GT and clicking Listen gets something very like Ken To Shi (Kentoshi) (which then translates to Prefecture...) .
And taking up on the offer to translate from Chinese gets Lantern (nothing about a message). I will guess there's a lot more there than just "Lantern".
Getting some etymology anyway...Captain Puget (talk) 20:30, 6 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
