Talk:The Golem (1915 film)

Latest comment: 4 years ago by 24.145.220.11 in topic Not Lost

I watched this film while surfing minor Sci-Fi channels on my ROKU called retro SCi-Fi and Horror Films I must say this print is of excellent quality! I am very glad I saw it. This film needs to be recognized as a quality film and may I say, I am very happy to confirm it must no longer be thought of as a lost film but a quality print that is much better than many, many others filmed and stored from the old stock films that sadly ravaged so many other priceless films from the dawn of film making. It is a very nice feeling to confirm this wonderful news. LD Beach

Titles edit

I notice that this gives German titles, not Yiddish titles. Now, of course, in the silent era, a film wouldn't particularly be made in a particular language: it was just a matter of which intertitles were used on a particular print, but in this case I'd bet (though I'm guessing) that much of its circulation would have been in Yiddish. Is there any particular basis for titling in German instead? - Jmabel | Talk 01:48, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Because it's a German-made film, DUH! (Ghostexorcist 04:03, 7 March 2007 (UTC))Reply
That last comment did not show much WP:LOVE. Either way, the titles are in English, not German or Yiddish. This is a dab page and it is trying to do its best to distinguish which film an English reference to "The Golem" might mean. The only German I see is in the picture. If you can find a better one in Yiddish, upload it and attach it.
If you want to add any official titles in Yiddish to the top of the specific film pages, that's fine, but bear in mind that the German titles may or may not have been the officially used ones. I don't see how each page could be harmed by having the title listed somewhere in all three languages and the importance of Yiddish culture should not be ignored, especially in these pages. :)--Thecurran (talk) 08:00, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

A bunch of the links here are broken. One of them links to itself, and another one in the "lost films" list page links hjere instead of to a page about the film. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.237.201.79 (talk) 04:25, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Merge to edit

I suggest to merge all this page into the main Golem (disambiguation) page. All contents of this page are already included there. ...then let's make this one a redirect to Golem (disambiguation)#In_films. --Franta Oashi (talk) 13:51, 12 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not Lost edit

I am not sure why this page still lists this film as 'lost'. The internet film archive has had a print of it available for free download (PD) for a couple of years now and several satellite "community" channels have aired it (which is where I first saw it). Will be adding this link to the main page as well. The IA incorrectly lists the date of production as 1920, but this is the original 1915 film (rt: 101 mins).

The print available is not of the 1915 film. It is of the 1920 prequel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.145.220.11 (talk) 02:49, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
