The 1619 Project already discusses this and is very through. What's the justification for this breakout article? I don't see any. I recommend a delete, or merge if there's content here that should be imported there. 66.207.202.66 (talk) 00:56, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I agree. This article is very odd for having no summary of the content at all. I think it should be merged in as another exposition of the "1619 Project" material. ★NealMcB★ (talk) 23:28, 17 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

While the lack of meaningful description of the topic in this article is unfortunate, Wikipedia is a work in progress with no deadline. Importantly, the guideline on whether or not a topic warrants a standalone article asks us to look not at the quality of the article—which can change with improvements—but at the topic itself. Our general guideline for whether or not to create an article about a topic gives significant coverage in multiple sources independent of the topic as a good guideline, and that exists for the book The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story:
