Article Spilt

Would anyone agree with me that we can better develop the exisiting and any future content by spliting the pages into 'Tetley's Bitter' and 'Tetley's Brewery. I do not mind undertaking this work if I can find consensus. The brand is perhaps the largest Bitter brand in the UK (certainly in the top two) and thus deserves its own page with content regarding market position, financial performance, history, ownership (both past and present) and the Tetley's chain of pubs and their promotions. The brewery is notable as a building in its own rights, its a large site in Central Leeds with many parts dating from the Victorian era through to (2007 I think the last extention was). Further to the current building its past development could also provide mucgh content for a high quality article. I am aware there is little in the way of web based references to support such text (most are either promotional tat produced by the brewery themselves or CAMRA articles regarding 'expert' opinion on the product), however I have access to a wide range of books and other paper based sources (I could be really boring with this article if I so wished with the material at hand). Even if the buildings were in no way connected to the brewery and had no notable use, they would still in their own rights deserve a page of their own. Airbus and Filton Airfield are seperate pages because their seperate articles, in the same manner, I think Tetley's should also be so. Such a prominent brand deserves a page of its own and such an intrinsic part of Leeds' industrial heritage also deserves its own page. The split will be even more pertinent should the brewery relocate (which it no doubt will, despite all the non-commital assurances by Carlsberg-Tetley). Unless anyone objects I shall formally propose a split, If I can find consensus thereafter, or an absence of reasoned objections, I will undertake the task. Former Yorkshire Chemicals site

The article states that the Tetley's Brewery uses parts of the former Yorkshire Chemicals Ltd (YCL) site, which is just across Crown Point Road from the brewery, for storage. I am not convinced that this is correct.

The Yorkshire Chemicals site was divided into two by Black Bull Street. The current (2009-10-04), woefully out of date aerial photography on Google Maps was taken after the portion to the east of Black Bull Street was demolished but has the section between Black Bull Street, Cudbear Street and Crown Point Road still extant. (Both parts are now gone.) Immediately to the north of the extant YCL site is a yard full of stacked barrels and truck trailers and this area is exactly the area used by the brewery today. Unfortunately, the photograph is taken from directly over the yard so it's impossible to see any logos on the sides of the trucks.

Nonetheless, I believe that this aerial photography shows Tetleys using the land while at least the buildings of YCL were still extant. It's possible that the barrels are actually chemicals drums and that the site was, at that point, being used by YCL. However, there does not appear to be any access to the yard from the YCL site which suggests that they are separate, and the site usage looks identical today. So it seems to me that Tetley's did not acquire that land from YCL or, at least, did not acquire it recently: they seem to have been using the land while YCL was still in business. Having looked at the aerial photo quoted above, the traillers appear to have a green side with white writing and I would suggest it says Carlsberg, based on the larger first letter. Mark.s.shaw (talk) 03:36, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Golden. (half bitter & half lager)

Why don't Tetley get together with a lager brewer and brew cans of Golden, every time I go to party I have to bring 4 cans of bitter and 4 lager. 1000's of people love drinking golden, it's a fantastic beer combo?
