Tavistock was formed for the purpose of allowing the Tavistock Country Club the ability to serve alcoholic beverages. Haddonfield is a dry borough.
But in 1921, Prohibition was in effect, so Tavistock was also dry. I've heard from a Haddonfield Borough councilor that Tavistock's origin stem's from Haddonfield's Blue Laws, which banned (perhaps still do) the playing of golf on Sunday. I have no confirmation, though.

I find it fantastically difficult to believe that ANYONE in Tavistock is below the poverty line. And with a total of seven families, how can it possibly be exactly 20% below the poverty line? 68.36.117.147 (talk) 04:17, 1 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Given the small size of Tavistock at least including the size in acres in addition to the census data would make it more comprehensible to the average American. Everyone else can just move the decimal point a bit to get the hectares. --Erp (talk) 02:54, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
