Wait, so they're americans pretending to be swedish. So the page shouldn't be put under the category of Swedish Models.
I have seen the Playboy issue featuring these women but not the original advertisements. Until now I had thought the entire concept had been invented by Playboy.
Anyway, what's with the American stereotypical view of all Swedes being beautiful blonde women? It certainly doesn't fit in what some other countries think of Swedes. Particularly, we Finns have a stereotype of all Swedish men being homosexual. — JIP | Talk 06:56, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
- I don't know the root of the stereotype of Swedes from the American viewpoint. And yes, I'm an American. "Why?" can be said for many ethnic stereotypes. I'm pretty sure that your stereotypes of Italians, Mexicans, and Japanese for example aren't exactly in line with the American stereotypes of those ethnicities. Why do they have Danish names if they are supposed to be Swedes? Ignorance on the behalf of the creators?

The article labels it an "American stereotype" that Swedish women are blond and have large breasts. I think that's inaccurate since it is well known worldwide that statistically Swedish women are blond and have big breasts. Notability edit
I am removing the notability tag. This "beer ad" continues to be a pop cultural reference a decade and a half after its demise. It is featured in male oriented comedies, currently airing on cable networks. Googling the term "Swedish Bikini Team" returns 215 hits. I use it. I know that alone does not make it notable, but there are a lot of things less obscure than this that rank encyclopedic virtue.
Nearly a generation has passed, and I believe as the source of choice for millions, this warrants an entry, if one person's inquiry is sated by this article.
