Notability edit

Hi Ambear13 (and ping Circa73). Thanks for creating the article, but it's not at all clear at the moment that Ciriclio meets any notability guideline, or is even a WP:NPOINTS keep. In particular:

  • She does not appear to meet WP:ANYBIO (noting that her appearance is in an ancillary book rather than the full Marquis Who's Who, and the criticisms of Marquis)
  • She doesn't appear to meet WP:NACADEMIC criteria 1 to 8
  • She doesn't meet WP:NARTIST criterion 2
  • On available evidence, she doesn't appear to meet NARTIST 1, 3, 4a or 4c.
  • It's unclear whether she can meet NARTIST 4b or 4d. If any of the exhibitions can be confirmed as solo, please note that they are. The claim against NARTIST 4d appears weak, as SFMOMA is major, but the other galleries/museums are less so.
  • There is a lack of critical review/acclaim of her work in the article; this is the glaring hole

I'll tag for notability since based on the various otability guidelines + the claims in the article + sources + search; she might be a weak keep at WP:AFD at the moment but appears more likely to be a delete/userfy. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 13:27, 14 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Hydronium Hydroxide Thank you for your thorough evaluation of notability in this article. I've added a solo show + ref for Susan Ciriclio. I also edited the lead to focus more on Ciriclio's photo work with a citation to a review of that work by well-known arts writer Hal Foster in the crème de la crème fine art publication ArtForum Circa73 (talk) 22:32, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Establish notability edit

Hi Hydronium Hydroxide ! I'm working on adding more citations to this article in order to meet the notability guideline for biographies. Please do not delete it yet! Thank you Ambear13 (talk) 18:02, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Ambear13Reply

Susan Ciriclio has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are "independent of the subject". Therefore, she meets notability requirements as defined by Wikipedia, here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability . Citations have been added to her entry that demonstrate this. I am deleting the "Notice about sources" header. Ambear13 (talk) 16:32, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Ambear13Reply

Ambear13 & Circa73: Thanks for your further work on the article. The case for Neighborhood meeting notability requirements is probably met, with some other California-based coverage available; the case for her other work/activities is not (others may differ, YMMV). Fischer is the strongest source, with 1/3rd of a page national coverage of a solo exhibition... which was a limited run at what appears to be a minor location. Everything else is either shared coverage and/or not fully independent -- Prabook should not be used ref Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_211#Prabook_as_user-generated_content & Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks/All#Prabook; Who's Who contains 9000+ American artists and takes submissions; etc. There may be something in "West Coast Museum Sets Precedent." New York Times 123:42,484 (19 May 1974), pp. D32–33. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 11:21, 19 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the hint Hydronium Hydroxide! My access to NYT is through Nexus Uni and only goes back to 1980, drat;), but I'll continue my hunt for another access sourceCirca73 (talk) 13:40, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
