Subdivisions of HungaryAdministrative divisions of Hungary – Bold move was reverted with the one-sentence rationale, "controversial". Not enough info to explain what the other editor was thinking, but the proposed move target is consistent with Administrative divisions of Iran, Administrative divisions of Serbia, Administrative geography of the United Kingdom, etc. "Subdivisions" is a less optimal choice because it does not carry the connotation identifying the subject matter as political boundaries. Relisted. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 18:06, 10 February 2014 (UTC) VQuakr (talk) 03:11, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oppose. The statistical regions are not political boundaries. Androoox (talk) 05:01, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
There may be a translation issue here. For the correct connotation in English, see "Political map" and compare with "Physical map". The edges of man-made "statistical regions" are indeed political boundaries. Again, the proposed merge target is Administrative divisions of Hungary and makes it consistent with analogous articles for other countries. VQuakr (talk) 05:25, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Consistently wrong. Now it is consistent with Subdivisions of Russia and consistently correct. And if you aim for consistency, why for your home country Administrative divisions of the United States redirects to Political divisions of the United States? Maybe you indeed have a translation issue. Androoox (talk) 05:37, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
I do not see any evidence that there was ever a deliberate decision to choose Administrative divisions of the United States over Political divisions of the United States so that also could be a good move. However, neither the USA nor Russia is a perfect comparison because Russia & the US, unlike Hungary, are federations. If there was an actual discussion at some point in the past to "officially" select any naming convention, linking to that discussion would be more productive than your unsupported contradiction and insults. The problem is that "subdivision" is an ambiguous term with multiple meanings, including at least one that is conflicting and confusing. This is a violation of our policy - specifically the first, second, and third bullet points at WP:NAMINGCRITERIA. Contrast this with Administrative division, which is unambiguous and wholly accurate term. VQuakr (talk) 06:05, 31 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
@VQuakr - what do you think about "Territorial entities of Hungary"? Androoox (talk) 00:37, 7 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
User:Androoox, can you explain why you believe this is a better alternative? Territorial entity is a disambiguation page, and the relevant entry redirects to Administrative division. VQuakr (talk) 09:10, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
User:VQuakr, can you explain why you ask that? Do you believe that I believe that this is a better alternative? Androoox (talk) 09:32, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I assumed that you thought it was better, since you suggested it. VQuakr (talk) 09:33, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Question: According to Administrative division, an "administrative division... is a portion of a country or other region delineated for the purpose of administration. Administrative divisions are each granted a certain degree of autonomy and are usually required to manage themselves through their own local governments." Does that apply to Regions of Hungary ? - TheMightyQuill (talk) 10:49, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

The only editor contesting this move was a sockpuppet of a banned user. Re-introducing the move an uncontroversial. VQuakr (talk) 17:28, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
