"They were the first military units in the world that carried backpack.[8]" The citation is from "Ćemerlić, Hamdija (1983). Colloque Scientifique à l'Occasion du Centenaire de l'Insurrection en Herzegovine 1882."
I don't know about the context in Ćemerlić's book, but that statement is false, as currently written. The backpack was in use in various armies, long before Austria established the Streifkorps in 1882.TheBaron0530 (talk) 02:26, 2 November 2018 (UTC)theBaron0530Reply
