Talk:Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 TV series)/Archive 1

I think it can be assumed that this will be released under the title Star Wars: Clone Wars. Plus, the "Star Wars" prefix conforms the title to the other four Star Wars TV series. --Hotdoglives 05:14, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Except for the fact that it was announced that it would simply be "Clone Wars". --WTRiker 01:57, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

  • This is George "Mo Money" Lucas we're talking about here. Because of that, I highly doubt they're dropping the "Star Wars" title a la Enterprise. The Wookieepedian 01:55, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
It's neither. It's "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", as evident from the trailer. 82.95.254.30 15:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Relation to the cartoon?

Is it exactly the same but 3D-ish?

(TV Series)

Is it necessary for this article to have the (TV series) suffix? The microseries article doesn't have it, and the article about the actual war isn't prefixed by "Star Wars:" but rather suffixed with "(Star Wars)", so there's no need to make the distinction there. 82.95.254.30 15:21, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is already taken- though it might not be a bad idea to move the video game to "Star Wars: The Clone Wars (video game)" so we can remove the "(TV series)" suffix, as the TV series will surely become much more well known than the game. --Hotdoglives 00:12, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
And it's been confirmed that the series will start with a movie in theaters so TV series wouldn't be specific enough. 194.78.37.122 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 21:06, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Character/vehicle lists

Is it really necessary to list all the characters and vehicles? It would make sense to mention the main characters somewhere in the article, but I don't think we need to list all the minor characters and vehicles... This isn't Wookieepedia. --Hotdoglives 04:17, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Question, is the casting list correct, is Seth Green really going to do a role of a female chacater? Ashoka Tano is a female character and in the movie does have a female voice. Ryomuyo (talk) 03:50, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Name change

Star Wars: Clone Wars was recently moved to Star Wars: Clone Wars (TV series), which makes it far too similar to this article's title. I agree that a move was necessary, but I think it would be better at Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003 TV series) and this article should be moved to Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 TV series) to keep things clear. "Series Synopsis"

This section needs to be rethought. Giving a summary of every single episode doesn't make sense here, not when there's a "List of...episodes..." page which does the same job. The overall arc/theme for the series or season is probably more appropriate here, rather than a play-by-play. 118.208.150.121 (talk) 18:39, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Different Channel

I think its worth mentioning here that this programme (as far as i'm aware of) does not air on Cartoon Network in the UK but on Sky Movies Premiere (which is a movie channel for those who don't know). Should i add it? Bottomlivefan95 (talk) 19:31, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Characters and Cast

Why doesn't the names in the "Characters" section match those in the "Cast" section? Each of these characters appear in one or the other list, but not both lists: 4A-7, Admiral Yularen, Aayla Secura, Captain Rex, Chancellor Palpatine, Commander Cody, Droidekas, Durge, Grievous' BodyguardsGha Nachkt, Hologram VJ, Ki-Adi-MundiKing Katuunko, Kit Fisto, Nahdar Vebb, Nute GunrayMedical Droid, Nala Se, Narrator, Nute Gunray, Oddball, Onaconda Farr, Palpatine, R2-D2, Shaak Ti, Silood, Super Battle Droids, TC-70, Whorm Loathsom.

For example, why is "Chancellor Palpatine" listed under "Cast" (voiced by Ian Abercrombie) but not under "Characters?" Likewise why is "Captain Rex" listed as a "Character" but there is no corresponding listing of a voice actor in the "Cast" section? -- Mmathu (talk) 04:02, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 TV series)Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series)

  • The "2008 TV series" doesn't quite ring true considering that it is being aired in 2009 and 2010. — Darth Newdar talk 16:59, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
  • There are two TV series from the same franchise with the exact same name, so they need the starting year disambiguation level. Aspects (talk) 01:43, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
  • Well, sorta. This one is a full TV series, the other was just a miniseries made up of 25 3-minute episodes. The miniseries was also called "Star Wars: Clone Wars", not "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". TJ Spyke 05:02, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
As pointed out above they are not called the same thing, and as I understand it all the Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003 TV series) episodes were all aired in 2003. So this page could be moved to Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series), could it not? Darth Newdar talk 09:06, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

I just realized that if the number of episodes confirmed to be done was 44 in 2007, would that count the three episodes that where made into the movie right? Or am i wrong?--Refuteku (talk) 10:16, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Actually, four episodes were compressed into the theatrical release. That makes 26 episodes in season 1. And, as of the season two finale, the latest production number is "The Zillo Beast Strikes Back" at production number 219 (41 overall). Exlonox (talk) 20:34, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Article name

Isn't the 2008 in the name a little misleading? After all, the series is not strictly from 2008. They aired in 2009 and 2010 as well. The current title is not accurate. I think the 2008 should be eliminated from the title.--Stephen C Wells (talk) 23:07, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that sounds right. The Genndy shorts were just called "Clone Wars", where this series is "The Clone Wars." Say "Star Wars: The Clone Wars (film)" for the movie and "Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV series)" for this show. I don't know how quick this would be to happen, but I think that would be more in line with Wiki standards. DigiFluid (talk) 13:00, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Syndication

The series has entered syndication on various local TV stations across the U.S. This would be the first time that the series was broadcast beyond the Turner Broadcasting System or on over-the-air TV stations. A weekly one hour block appeared in the schedule for both KDOC-TV (Orange county, CA) and XETV (San Diego, CA) with the program guide listing a one hour block titled Ambush, the first episode of the first season, what was actually broadcast was Cat and Mouse from the second season and then The Hidden Enemy from the first season. The following weekend Rising Malevolence was scheduled (on KDOC) but instead episodes Clone Cadets and Supply Lines were broadcast. These episodes are both from Season 3 although the producer's announcement only lists Seasons 1 & 2 for syndication. The Clone Wars trailer posted on the Trifecta Entertainment web site contains clips from all four seasons. Updated 3X. Aldebaran66 (talk) 19:32, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Who will voice Chancellor Palpatine, now that Ian Abercrombie is dead?

I just found out that Ian Abercrombie, the guy who voiced Chancellor Palpatine in the show Star Wars: The Clone Wars died back in January. So the only question is: Who will voice Chancellor Palpatine in the upcoming fifth season? AdamDeanHall (talk) 20:10, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Ian recorded most of the dialogue for season five before he died. The producers don't want to talk about replacing him until all his episodes are complete. 124.187.67.216 (talk) 03:46, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

Category:Series revived after cancellation

User:Refuteku has been deleting the Category:Television series revived after cancellation, since Netflix is apparently not a network. However, Arrested Development and The Killing both have this same category after being picked up by Netflix. Also Community is under the same category after being picked up by Yahoo! Screen after cancellation. So why should Clone Wars be any different? Richiekim (talk) 14:31, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Because reviving a series means producing new episodes and new sponsorship. These were episodes that were almost finished in production and therefore not a "revival" as a revival also means prolonging the broadcast of a series.

Removing the Toonami thing

Okay let me make my self clear, I am NOT deviating anything on this page and secondly that was incredibly a very, very, very, very foolish mistake on removing the reruns section being on Toonami. Now if you want to go and lash at me and saying "I'm a Jerk, blah blah blah" enough is enough, because I don't want to be continuously codding me on several pages that you want to have "your way", and lastly I want to resolve something regarding this and I don't want to leave this hanging.

Also that certain shows have reruns on several networks (The Big Bang Theory, Castle, etc...) Now yes Toonami is no TNT, or TBS it's a freaking midnight block on Adult Swim. But no reason to remove it. :X--73.166.187.154 (talk) 03:08, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

They were reruns on the same network. That's not notable at all. That's why I removed the mention originally, and why they keep getting reverted. There's nothing notable about a network rerunning its own programs. oknazevad (talk) 03:56, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
@73.166.187.154: I don't think you've made yourself clear, because I have no idea what you mean by "I am NOT deviating anything on this page" and "I don't want to be continuously codding me". As explained by Oknazevad here and by me here and here and here, there is nothing inherently noteworthy about reruns. There are literally thousands of television channels around the world, and it would be a fool's errand to catalog each time a series is rerun somewhere in the world. On a smaller scale, it's still a fool's errand to catalog all the times a series is rerun in in US markets. What academic value does this have? So unless you have something more compelling than WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, I don't think a strong case has yet been made for inclusion. We're not here to catalog every detail of the series, only the most important. And, as you've likely been told numerous times before, you should open a discussion the moment you are reverted, as per WP:BRD. Aaaaand, since you seem to have a contrary belief, let me explain this: the only reason why I know that you are the same editor I brought to ANI a few times in the past, is because of your typical edit warring, lack of proactive communication, removal of talk page comments and snippy responses made only via edit summaries. If you behaved differently, you probably wouldn't run into me as much or have conflicts with other editors. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:11, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Cast

That's a really long cast section and I don't think it's necessary to list every person who's ever done a voice for The Clone Wars, especially when there's an entire separate article for the cast of the show. I think everything except the main and maybe recurring cast members should be removed from this page and just kept in the cast article. 99.231.178.168 (talk) 17:41, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Agreed. Article should focus on Main and Recurring per MOS:TV. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:01, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you sir, looks good. PS, Cyphoidbomb: date format templates do not go on talk pages. oknazevad (talk) 22:57, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
Oknazevad - Not sure what happened there. I think it might've been a glitch on my tablet. Obviously they don't make you an admin if you think that date format templates belong on talk pages. Cyphoidbomb (talk)
Could be a glitch, maybe something you had on the clipboard. But it showed up and even changed the date format on a signature. Strange, but nit hint much to worry about. Just wanted to mention it in case. Heck, I've seen admins who've made mistakes before. oknazevad (talk) 06:50, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
